Highways Project Managerposition is now available with
Manchester City Councilon a long term 12-month temporary contract. Hybrid working is available. Day rates are negotiable dependant on experience.


What is the role?


Manchester City Council are now looking to appoint an experienced Highways specialist or Project Manager to their Specialist Development Team.


This team manage the pipeline of highway infrastructure projects, including multi-million pound capital funding covering the Active Travel Fund, City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement, and Levelling up Fund.


In this role you will support through early development stages of projects, commissioning resources for key elements of work, including feasibility studies, surveys, engagement, and business case preparation.


How will you do this?

  • Provide specialist highways support to stakeholders and to ensure decision making is joined up, and aligns with Manchester goals, for the highway network.
  • Establish programme and resource allocations prior to projects being passed to Highways Delivery for detailed design and construction.
  • Develop future highway infrastructure projects through RIBA stages 02.

What experience do you need?

  • Demonstrable Project Management, or technical highways experience, within a highways development team.
  • Experience of early development of highways projects, including contract management and commissioning.
  • Experience in business case development for major capital infrastructure projects.
