Job DescriptionnWe have an exciting opportunity for a Research Manager to join our Research Programmes Directorate at LGC Ltd.As a Research Manager, you will play a key role in driving the strategic development and delivery of both NIHR and non-NIHR research funding programmes.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to reducing health inequalities and reconfiguring the health, social care, and public health systems.
Responsibilities:
nResearch and articulate potential research investment opportunitiesnAdvise potential applicantsnRevise application forms and guidance documentsnReview applications for fundingnCoordinate and manage the peer review processnOversee funding committeesnProvide feedback to successful and unsuccessful applicantsnUndertake due diligence of proposals based on critical assessment of healthcare-related projectsnNegotiate funding agreements for projects recommended for fundingnManage a portfolio of funded projectsnRegularly communicate and collaborate with individuals both within and outside the organization.
nLead or support strategic development initiativesnDraft SOPs, work instructions, and template documentsnAssist with the quality control of minutes and external documentationnPrepare regular and ad hoc programme reports, papers, and minutesnIdentify enhancements to working practicesnOrganise and attend site visits and external meetingsnRespond to Parliamentary Questions or briefing requests
Qualifications & ExperiencenA degree in biomedical, health, or social sciences, or equivalent experience in the fieldnStrong ability to communicate effectively and experience in building relationships with various individuals and teams.nTrack record in successful project and programme managementnAbility to think strategicallynExcellent writing and attention to detailnExcellent planning and organisational skillsnAnalytical and complex problem-solving skillsnStrong communication skills and customer focusnCommitted team playernExperience in a research management environmentnPreferred: PhD in a medical, scientific, technical, or social field.
