What you'll be doing


As the Corporate Communications Assistant your role will be key in supporting the corporate communications team that is responsible for delivering the IET's external communications, internal and stakeholder communications, public affairs and equality, diversityand inclusion (EDI) work within the UK and internationally.


You will be responsible for helping the team measure its success by monitoring and reporting on the IET's media coverage, assisting with internal surveys, data collection and monitoring.

You will support with crafting copy for a range of mediums, includingour colleague intranet, IET website, team reports, and our membership magazine.

You will also support in the administration and logistics of meetings, corporate events, talks and workshops both to internal and external audiences.

You'll have an interest in communications with some experience of working in a communications or marketing team, excellent organisation skills and able to manage a wide-ranging workload with competing demands.

You'll have excellent writing skills and beable to present information clearly, accurately and to a range of audiences, be a good communicator and have excellent organisation skills.

You'll be proactive and have a positive, passion for communications with the ability handle a heavy workload and prioritisewhere necessary.

A little more about the role

  • Support the administration and delivery of communications campaigns, events and engagement opportunities that support the IET's 2030 strategy. These include our regular allcolleague In the Know sessions and events such as our annual President's Address,Open House Week and Young Woman Engineer of the Year.
  • Look after the measurement of key corporate communications KPIs, for example media coverage.
  • Assist with EDI data collection and monitoring.
  • Contribute to the set up and roll out of internal surveys.
  • Team administrative support such as minute taking and meeting set up.
  • Keeping up to date the corporate communications annual calendar of key dates and engagement opportunities.
  • Write speeches and presentations, often to tight timescales.
  • Write and upload articles for IET magazines, the IET websites and the intranet.
  • Administrative support for EDI Working Party and Partnerships
  • Set up photo calls, events, briefings and attend as required.
  • Work in collaboration with colleagues across the IET.
  • Undertake any other duties and projects as requested by the line manager.
  • Comply with data protection legislation and act responsibly on matters of data disclosure both internally and to third parties.
  • Be familiar with the Health and Safety and Fire policies for the organisation and to attend mandatory updates where required.
  • The post may require occasional travel, including to our London office, Savoy Place.
