    The People Analytics and Insight (PAI) Directorate is part of HMRC�s Chief People Officer (CPO) Group, or HR.     The Data Warehouse Manager role will drive the implementation of an HR data repository and oversee its ongoing development to maximise the benefits to the organisation.

    You will be working in an environment that requires flexibility, so the ability to handle time-sensitive priorities is essential to being successful.

    Job description

    As the data warehouse manager, you will take ownership of the delivery and maintenance of the HR data warehouse and undertake the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Leadership and potentially line management responsibilities, provide oversight and mentoring advice to more inexperienced members of the team.
  • Drive and oversee the delivery of plans to ensure that the objectives are clearly defined and achieved within the agreed time, cost and quality constraints.
  • Stakeholder management: building relationships and communicating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders in HMRC, balancing their priorities against limited resources and budget.
  • Act as the lead point of contact with our IT partners in CDIO.
  • Lead work on database management: monitoring performance; take responsibility for audit trails, access controls and backups; identifying improvements and opportunities to include new, or reuse and optimise existing data flows to reduce load on the warehouse and maximise benefits; undertake data profiling and source system analysis.

    • Essential Criteria:

  • Database management and data modelling: produce relevant data models across multiple subject areas.�
  • Communication. You can communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, hosting discussions with potentially difficult dynamics.
  • Problem resolution. You can respond to problems in databases, data processes, data products and services as they occur. You can initiate actions, monitor services and identify trends to resolve problems. You can determine the appropriate remedy and assist with its implementation, and with preventative measures.
  • Technical understanding. You can understand the core technical concepts related to the role and apply them with guidance.

  • Data integration design: implement the appropriate technologies to deliver resilient, scalable and future-proofed data solutions.
  • Testing. You can review requirements and specifications and define test conditions. You can identify issues and risks associated with work. You can analyse and report test activities and results.
  • Metadata management.�

    • You can work with metadata repositories to complete complex tasks such as data and systems integration impact analysis.
    You can maintain a repository to ensure information remains accurate and up to date.

    • Benefits

    Alongside your salary of �42,618, HM Revenue and Customs contributes �11,506 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.

    HMRC operates both Flexible and Hybrid Working policies, allowing you to balance your work and personal commitments. We welcome applications from those who need to work a more flexible arrangement and will agree to requests where possible, considering our operational and customer service needs.

    We offer a generous leave allowance, starting at 25 days and increasing by a day for every year of qualifying service up to a maximum of 30 days.
