    Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer the opportunity to join our team within Emergency Medicine as a Band 7 Emergency Nurse Practitioner

    We are looking for a motivated and innovative person who is an expert in Minor injury and illness management, to enhance our established service.

    The successful candidate needs to have excellent communication skills, be able to manage themselves and others and be able to demonstrate their proficiency as an experienced ENP within the speciality of minor injury and illness management.

    Main duties of the job The successful candidate would be expected to provide a quality minor injury/ illness service to patients attending the Emergency Department as an independent and autonomous practitioner in line with the trust values.

    The post holder will provide leadership to band six and student Emergency Nurse Practitioners, assist in their supervision, development, and management.

    You will be responsible for monitoring and development of standards in the delivery of a minor injury / illness service, for the ENP, nursing and medical teams. This will include formal and informal teaching in the department and Oxford Brookes University .

    You will assist in the development of research-based nursing practice within the Emergency Department, through the implementation of evidence-based practice.

    The successful candidate will also be supported to enhance their own education through opportunities to pursue Master's level education.

    This role covers a variety of shift times including weekdays, weekends and nights. Person Specification Education and Qualifications Essential
    • RGN or RN (adult) or registered ECP
    • Live NMC or HPC registration
    • Degree/MSc level Minor Injury/Illness Management Course or Nurse Practitioner Course/equivalent ENB A33 or ECP short Course/BSc ECP
    • Recognised mentor or teaching course or equivalent
    • ATNC/APLS/PALS/ALS/ILS
    Desirable
    • Post Graduate/Masters level Education related to Advanced Practice or equivalent Heath Care Course, or willing to work towards
    • ENB 199 or equivalent Emergency Care course
    • Non-medical prescribing qualification
    Experience Essential
    • Evidence of having worked as an ENP or ECP in Post Registration employment at band 6
    • Previous experience of having worked in Emergency Care or in Minor Injury Units/Walk-in Centres
    • Evidence of ability to manage a team of Emergency Nurse Practitioners or other Health Care Professionals
    • Evidence of ability to educate others in practice and mentoring students
    Desirable
    • Experience of managing change
    Knowledge Essential
    • Knowledge of NMC/HPC codes as appropriate
    • Working knowledge of child protection and care of the vulnerable adult policies
    • Understanding of clinical governance framework and regular presence and contribution to the department's Clinical Governance meetings
    • Evidence of ability to interpret x rays
    • Evidence of up to date mandatory training and CPD
    Key Skills Essential
    • Able to demonstrate excellence within ENP or ECP practice and care delivery
    • Able to produce clinical case notes to a high standard and monitor the standards of documentation of ENPs, giving feedback and support for areas of improvement
    • Able to use computers to input clinical data
    • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills both with clients and colleagues
    • Able to demonstrate leadership qualities to motivate and lead team of ENPs, other ED nurses and other clinicians on a daily basis
    • Has an understanding of the research process and utilises these skills to offer evidence based care
    • Able to carry out a range of standard treatments in the management of patients with minor injury/illness
    • Can effectively prioritise own workload and delegate appropriately
    • Able to demonstrate problem solving skills
    • Has an interest in teaching and staff development

    • Able to work flexible shift patterns, including unsocial hours
