Director of Learning - London, United Kingdom - Leigh Academies Trust

    Default job background
    Fixed Term - Full time
    Description

Stationers' Crown Woods Academy has a rare and truly exciting opportunity to appoint an exceptional candidate to join and lead our Maths department and have oversight of our academy strategy. You would be joining one of the largest and most popular schools in Greenwich and we would welcome hearing from candidates with a strong track record of achieving results who are currently department leaders or experienced post-holders ready for promotion. This is a challenging but hugely satisfying position offering a whole school leadership opportunity.

We are seeking to appoint an individual who can build a rapport with our students and engage them in the subject as well as leading and inspiring an established and collaborative team. We consistently provide excellent career opportunities for those who demonstrate ambition and drive.

The role of Director of Learning - Maths consequently warrants a high profile position within the academy, and we believe that our offer reflects this. Overseeing existing TLR holders you will be responsible for securing the best possible outcomes for our students. We expect all of our students to be challenged, to be inspired and to achieve beyond expectation; this will be your focus.

We'd like to hear from candidates who are:

  • An excellent leader who is passionate about learning and has strong subject knowledge within the Mathematics remit
  • Collaborative, able to build strong professional relationships
  • Able to motivate and inspire students and staff to achieve their full potential
  • Energetic and have a can-do attitude
  • Confident and has strong career aspirations
  • Committed to safeguarding and the happiness and wellbeing of everyone at the Academy
  • Prepared to be involved in leading co-curricular activities either within or outside of their teaching subject
  • What we are offering:

For our successful candidate, being a member of staff at Stationers' Crown Woods Academy and the wider Trust means you'll receive access to a great range of employment benefits from day one.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 1 year offering Leadership Scale, commensurate with experience + inner London Allowance.

Note that whilst the position is offered on a fixed term contract until August 2025, every effort will be made to offer a substantive position thereafter, either at Wilmington Academy or within the wider family of academies across Leigh Academies Trust. The central Recruitment Team will keep in touch with you throughout your contract to discuss options available to you.

At the heart of SCWA is robust pastoral care, which prioritises strong partnerships with parents and carers.

'Pupils appreciate the close working relationships that they build with staff through belonging to one of the four small schools' - OFSTED January 2023

As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, the IB philosophy is at the heart of our curriculum. We offer the IB Middle Years Programme for Years 7-9, a programme designed to nurture happy, curious, well-rounded, independent, globally aware, and resilient students. Moreover, our students enjoy an extensive range of clubs and activities. We are one of the largest Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award providers in the South, with hundreds of students achieving Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels every year. Additionally, as one of only six state schools with a Marine Combined Cadet Force (CCF), we offer a unique experience to every pupil.

'A rich range of visits and activities are made available to pupils'. - OFSTED January 2023

Our dedicated and skilled team of professionals is key to transforming lives and securing the best outcomes for every student. We provide a wealth of professional development opportunities demonstrating our investment in our staff's professional growth.

Being part of Leigh Academies Trust: As of 1st April 2024, our Trust comprises 32 geographically organised academies (16 secondaries, 14 primaries and 2 special) educating more than 20,000 students and employing 3,000 talented staff. Nearly 40% of our academies are judged outstanding overall by Ofsted, versus 15% nationally. The Trust is establishing four 'clusters' of academies: North Kent; Central Kent; South East London; Medway. In addition, the Trust is responsible for one of the region's biggest initial teaching training organisations, a large teaching school hub and is an accredited apprenticeship provider.

    .

As part of Leigh Academies Trust, you will have ample opportunity to collaborate with your peers both within the academy and across the whole Trust. This is an important part of our vision as we know through experience that we perform better when we work together. You are supported to undertake regular self-development to continue your professional development and hopefully progress further within the organisation.

Our commitment to safeguarding: Leigh Academies Trust and all of our academies are committed to ensuring the highest levels of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils, and we expect all our staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We adopt a fair, robust and consistent recruitment process across all academies and business units which is inline with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance. This includes online checks for shortlisted candidates - you can read more about this in our Recruitment Guidance. All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS check, references, and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check.

Our commitment to equality and diversity: As a Trust, we are passionate about diversity and recognise that as individuals, we all bring something unique to the role regardless of any protected characteristics which is why we treat all of our people equally, without compromise. We are committed to providing equality and fairness throughout our recruitment and employment practices and not discriminating on any grounds.
