Job summary:
The post holder will act as an integral part of the AMUSS team.
You will be responsible for the co-ordination of all patient facilities services in AMUSS, ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment.
The main element of the role are ensuring the delivery of cleaning, catering and minor maintenance, together with other specified tasks to meet individual patient needs as determined by the nurse in charge.

Main duties, tasks & skills required:
The post holder will:
Maintaining stock and cleanliness of patient areas
Remove clutter; tidy notice boards, signage etc.
Identify any problems with cleanliness and report to the Nurse In Charge
Assist other staff in serving patient meals / sandwiches / drinks
Ensure the appropriate patients are served meals / sandwiches drinks
Assist in feeding appropriate patients
Serve beverages / drinks / snacks as necessary to patients, relatives and visitors
Ensure the availability of tea / coffee for patients throughout the day
Ensure that the food hygiene regulation requirements are upheld
Ensure that patients whose fluid intake is not medically restricted have access to fresh water
Liaise with the ward health and safety representative
Carry out monitoring of service delivery especially related to cleaning, food, linen, curtains and environment at the agreed frequency
Ensure patient space is respected, including attending to locker space in the overnight stay.
Ensure that the Nurse In Charge is kept informed of any concerns
Monitor and maintain all nursing and medical supplies
Ensuring that all supplies are stored in line with health and safety
Using bespoke IT systems to order stock as required
Respect patient privacy and dignity at all times
Act in a courteous manner to patients, relatives and colleagues at all times
Respond to requests for general information
Maintain confidentiality
Respond to emergencies as appropriate

Qualifications:
Essential:
Evidence of Level 2 on both Maths &
English qualifications ( CSE Grade 1/ GCSE
Grades 4-9 or A* -C / Level 2 Functional
Skills / O Level grade A-C / Level 2
National Certificate / Level 2 National
Diploma / Level 2 ESOL )
Evidence of completion of Level 3
Qualification or above in Health / Social
Care or Hospitality & Catering ( BTEC/
CACHE Level 3 Award / Level 3 Certificate
or Diploma ) or 2 A levels or equivalent
experience of working in the NHS in a
patient/public facing role in health / care
or hospitality & catering
Evidence of completion of training
associated with employment in a role
associated with health / care / hospitality
or catering i
e:
Customers service/ Food
Hygiene / Care Certificate/ Health &
Safety i.e. COSHH
Evidence of completion of "in house"
training associated with employment, via
on-line training platforms, Moodle, in
house training etc
Experience:
Essential:
Considerable experience of working in a
health/ care role or hospitality/ catering
role which is customer facing in an NHS or
health / care provider role as part of a
multi-disciplinary team
Experience of undertaking audit of stock
and replenishment of supplies
Can demonstrate understanding of the
roles which make up the team of health
and care staff within a hospital setting
Can demonstrate understanding of the
following:
- Health & Safety
- Infection prevention control
- Food hygiene practice /standard
