Reed Talent Solutions are currently with a West Yorkshire based Public Sector organisation to recruit a
Commercial Category Manageron a permanent basis. The post holder will lead, build and develop a category specific expert team to provide commercial advice to the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continually develop and share category expertise to be a recognised leader in the field and maximise the value achieved through commercial activities in the given industry.
  • Lead the development and delivery of a category management approach for a key category area within the Combined Authority.
  • Deliver highly complex, strategic procurements and oversee contract management to ensure that excellent value for money and high customer satisfaction is attained.
  • Use professional knowledge to draft fit for purpose contractual documentation working with legal colleagues as and when required. Provide expert, practical advice and guidance to stakeholders on contractual terms and best practice contract management methodologies,including those relevant to NEC contracts if applicable.
  • Collaborate with regional partners and liaise with external organisations, representing the Combined Authority and Delivery Partners where appropriate, attending and chairing meetings and site visits as necessary.
  • Provide advice to decision makers on compliance and commercial risk and best practice options as part of decisionmaking processes under the guidance of the Head of Commercial.
  • Ensure contracts deliver Social Value and that benefits can be reported and monitored.
  • Provide commercial input, guidance and expertise to support other projects as required, developing and sharing best practice and lessons learned across the Combined Authority and externally as appropriate.
  • Analyse complex information and produce comprehensive, high quality reports and management information. This includes providing accurate reporting of contractual spend including relevant spend analysis.

Essential Criteria

  • Hold a degree or have relevant demonstrable practical experience.
  • Relevant professional qualification (i.e. MCIPS or IACCM) and membership of the relevant membership body.
  • Practical experience of successfully performing in a similar role.
  • Excellent practical category knowledge and experience. Expert in field.
  • Excellent track record of successfully delivering highly complex strategic procurements and strategic contract management.
  • Strong practical knowledge of UK and EU procurement regulations, contract and property law as appropriate to the category.
  • Excellent working knowledge of model contracts including NEC if appropriate to category.
