    Job overview

    You will work with the ATMP Consultant Pharmacist and the wider ATMP team to maintain and develop cell and gene therapies at CUH.

    You will deliver a clinical pharmacy service to CAR-T patients and be responsible for scheduling and planning their treatment. Gene therapies will play an increasing role in this post as they evolve.
    Main duties of the job


    • To act as preparative lead for aseptic preparation of novel therapies (e.g. gene therapies). To attend training specific to the products and train other technicians to prepare the products in the event of the postholder's absence
    • Working with Pharmacy procurement, the CAR-T team, Cambridge Cellular Therapies Laboratory (CCTL) and CAR-T manufacturers to order, schedule and receive CAR-T products
    • Provide a medicines optimisation service to haematology in-patients. To be prioritised as 1. CAR-T patients 2. HSCT patients 3. Other haematology patients
    • Meet with CAR-T patients prior to admission for medicines reconciliation.
    • Dispense CAR-T cell products to patients on the ward (after accreditation)
    • Work with the cell therapies team to develop in-house expertise to prepare novel cellular therapies. The team may include pharmacy, medical, nursing and CCTL staff.

    Qualifications
    Minimum qualification NVQ3 Pharmacy Services, BTEC Pharmaceutical Science or CGLI/Apothecaries Hall pre 1985 certificates or equivalent.
    Registration with GPhC.
    Checking accreditation, one or all of: ACT, MM, MR (National Framework)
    Basic Computer Literacy (Word, Excel).
    Post registration qualification in Pharmaceutical medicines management and/or patient consultation e
    Evidence of CPD (mandatory on registration)
    Member of Association of Pharmacy Technicians (APT(UK))
    Advanced Computer Literacy (Word, Excel
    Experience
    Significant post qualification experience including hospital ward, outpatient and inpatient dispensary pharmacy.
    Training and supervision.
    Demonstrated supervisory skills.
    Contributor to at least one service development.
    Experience of medication history taking.
    Accurate data entry of patient specific information.
    Knowledge and experience of audit methodology.
    Knowledge and experience of production of reports.
    Experience of patient counselling.
    Knowledge of dispensing high cost drugs.
    Experience of using Epic

    Demonstrates a sound knowledge of medicines.
    Basic knowledge on medicines information and resources available.
    Receptive to priorities of patients, carers and other staff groups.
