- Postgraduate diploma in a subject relevant to the area Or be willing to work towards and achieve within 2 years and
- Within the first year of being in post hold a recognised qualification in a governed therapy/advanced clinical qualification e.g Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy/Post Grad diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy /NMP (Independent Prescriber)
- And have Equivalent clinical experience to that of a Post Grad Diploma/master's level such as working as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area with significant experience (see below under experience), together with evidence of relevant CPD
- Extensive knowledge of current issues relating to health needs of patients in the field of practice, regionally and nationally
- Understanding and working knowledge of the legal framework and statutory obligations under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act
- Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
- Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
- Clinical Governance and its application in practice.
- Working knowledge of clinical medicines management
- Understanding of psychological models of care and treatment (depending on specialist area)

Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 7 registered mental health nurse to join community mental health services for older people in Derwentside & Chester le street. We are looking to employ a highly motivated mental health nurse with drive and enthusiasm in this field of nursing. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a patient centred approach to care, have excellent assessment and risk management skills. The post holder will be responsible for the management of a caseload of patients and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. They will also be required to provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior members of the community team. There will also be an expectation that the successful candidate will support students and learners within this clinical setting.
The post-holder will be required to travel across the Derwentside and Chester le street areas of Durham and therefore applicants must be capable of independent travel.
This post is only open to candidates who have their NMC registration.
Ideally you will hold a non medical prescribing qualification or currently be working to achieve this qualification.
