    Job summary

    An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic, friendly and supportive Paediatric Physiotherapy team. The work would involve working across the acute and community paediatric settings including clinics at the children's centre, patient's homes, schools and the ward at the James Paget University Hospital. The post would cover a diverse paediatric caseload but will be predominantly in the area of musculoskeletal and orthopaedic paediatrics. The applicant will require a desire to work closely with children, their families and other key stakeholders within the children and young people sector. They will have experience and interest in working in musculoskeletal practice but not necessarily evidence of working exclusively in musculoskeletal practice. Our team is highly specialised and can offer training and support to further develop members of staff with less knowledge and experience.

    The Successful applicant will be able to demonstrate evidence of working with children in any environment and is seeking to develop holistic skills that will serve the children and young person population within a healthcare setting.

    Our team is part of the community Paediatric Team within the James Paget University Hospital so work closely with Paediatric Occupational therapists, Paediatric Dieticians, Paediatricians and children's nursing team.

    We would consider part time and flexible hours and also a band 5 development post.

    Main duties of the job

    To be responsible for a defined clinical caseload within the paediatric therapy department at Newberry Child Development Centre, James Paget Hospital (paediatric wards and clinics) and within the community without direct supervision.

    To determine clinical diagnosis and treatment indicated, and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner, with appropriate support as per personal need.

    To ensure a high standard of care for each child working with all disciplines and agencies involved with that family. To communicate with these agencies, parents, and children in an appropriate manner, often with sensitive information regarding diagnosis and outcomes.

    To deliver interventions in a variety of ways including face to face clinics, groups and classes.

    To teach parents/ other stakeholders handling and management skills as appropriate.

    Education and qualifications

    Essential

  • Diploma / BSc / MSc in Physiotherapy
  • Current Health Care Professions Council registration
  • CPD record should include evidence of up-to-date relevant post graduate training and reflections of learning
  • Experience and knowledge

  • Experience of working with children

  • Evidence of Self-directed learning
  • Working knowledge of clinical governance and implications for own work
  • Awareness of relevant new research and professional practice
