As a Rail/Civils Estimator, your main responsibility will be to accurately estimate the costs for civil engineering projects throughout the project lifecycle.

The role:

• Relevant qualifications are necessary, but experience holds greater significance.
• Analyze project specifications, conduct site visits, and collaborate with different stakeholders to create detailed cost estimates that align with project needs and financial constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Analysis: Review project specifications, drawings, and relevant documents to grasp project scope, materials, and timelines.
• Cost Estimation: Employ industry-standard techniques to determine labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs for each project phase.
• Site Visits: Evaluate site conditions and potential challenges through site visits to assess their impact on project costs.
• Vendor and Supplier Coordination: Obtain competitive pricing, negotiate agreements, and maintain relationships for timely and cost-effective solutions.
• Risk Assessment: Identify risks affecting costs and create plans to mitigate them, ensuring budget control.
• Bid Preparation: Develop detailed bid proposals compliant with project requirements in response to client requests.
• Collaboration: Work closely with different stakeholders to deliver cost-effective solutions meeting project objectives and quality standards.
• Documentation: Organize cost estimates, project records, and correspondence for project planning and reporting.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Proven estimator experience in civil engineering or construction.
• Familiarity with civil engineering principles, construction techniques, and materials.
• Proficiency in estimating tools like Bluebeam, RSMeans, etc.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
• Knowledge of relevant regulations, codes, and standards.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification or licensure is advantageous.

Location: North London, UK

Salary: £50k-60k
