- Project Analysis: Review project specifications, drawings, and relevant documents to grasp project scope, materials, and timelines.
- Cost Estimation: Employ industry-standard techniques to determine labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs for each project phase.
- Site Visits: Evaluate site conditions and potential challenges through site visits to assess their impact on project costs.
- Vendor and Supplier Coordination: Obtain competitive pricing, negotiate agreements, and maintain relationships for timely and cost-effective solutions.
- Risk Assessment: Identify risks affecting costs and create plans to mitigate them, ensuring budget control.
- Bid Preparation: Develop detailed bid proposals compliant with project requirements in response to client requests.
- Collaboration: Work closely with different stakeholders to deliver cost-effective solutions meeting project objectives and quality standards.
- Documentation: Organize cost estimates, project records, and correspondence for project planning and reporting.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Proven estimator experience in civil engineering or construction.
- Familiarity with civil engineering principles, construction techniques, and materials.
- Proficiency in estimating tools like Bluebeam, RSMeans, etc.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations, codes, and standards.
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification or licensure is advantageous.
