Main duties of the job
The post holder will be an experienced nurse, who actingwithin their professional boundaries, will provide high quality care forpatients. The role includes the typical practice nurse duties including: diabetic & respiratory care (asthma & COPD), smears,immunisation, contraception, health reviews, etc.

To provide nursing services to the practice population byevidence based, quality focused care. Professional Responsibilities
Maintain professional NMC registration.
Work within the latest NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
Maintain continued education by attendance at courses andstudy days relevant/useful or necessary for personal/professional development.

Evaluating and adapting care using evidence-based practice,in consultation with colleagues as a forum for team education, development andaudit.
Using evidence-based practice to assist in the formulationof practice philosophy, strategy and policies.
Participate in audits and inspections as required
Contribute to the practice achieving its PMS contractobligations including quality, organisational and access targets. Workingwithin the requirements of the CQC.
Demonstrate due regard for the safeguarding of children andvulnerable adults.
Maintain accurate records according to NMC rules.
Ensure all data protection requirements are met whengathering, recording and storing patient data.
Teamwork
All employees are expected to display a high standard ofteamwork. This includes cooperating in undertaking the work of absentcolleagues or assisting others where the workload is particularly high.Accordingly, there may be a requirement, from time to time, to undertake otherduties.
Job Responsibilities
Be responsible for managing clinics and carrying outassociated tasks including the following: Cervical cytology, wound care,removal of sutures, travel vaccinations, ECGs, peak flow readings, spirometry, venepuncture,management of long term conditions, routine, travel and childhood immunisations,contraceptive advice, chaperoning patients who are being examined by anotherclinician, urine testing, dietary advice, administration of prescribedinjectable therapies, anaphylaxis and CPR.
Administer child and adult immunisations and vaccinations inaccordance with national and local programmes. Be competent in anaphylaxis andresuscitation techniques. Ensuring safe storage, rotation and disposals ofvaccines and drugs and that adequate stock levels are maintained
Make appropriate referrals to other members of the primary,community and secondary care teams.
CVD risk assessments and Q risk interpretation andassessments.
Ensuring all specimens are checked and sent to laboratory asrequired
Participate in the education of students of all disciplines.
To adhere to strict Infection Control in line withguidelines and policies.
Advise patients and relatives/carers on general health careand ailments with referral to GPs as necessary.
Support and co-ordinate health promotion campaigns, flu, no smoking, healthy lifestyles, etc
To have working knowledge of equipment used in the surgery.Ensuring that any faulty equipment is taken out of service for repair andreported to the nursing team for information and Practice Administrator foraction.
The role of the Practice Nurse is an evolving one and it isanticipated that the post holder will be responsible and reasonably flexible inthe interpretation of the above job description.
