Job Description

The role:

As part of our exciting expansion, Elgin Asset Management team (EAM) see an Energy Storage Specialist to join their UK Team. You will be instrumental in driving forward our battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. You will play a key role in a variety of projects, including grid-scale, hybrid, and off-grid installations, contributing to business development activities and providing technical expertise to ensure the successful delivery of projects.

Responsibilities:

Technical Assessments and Equipment Reviews:

Conduct thorough technical assessments for emerging equipment, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of their functionalities.
Implement cutting-edge technology when necessary to enhance the design and performance of existing systems.

Leadership in BESS Project Execution:

Lead the BESS team in the successful execution of grid-scale projects, leveraging extensive expertise and experience in BESS technology.
Ensure seamless coordination within the team to meet project milestones and deliver high-quality results.

Strategic Contribution to Business Development:

Identify and evaluate opportunities within the renewable energy sector to contribute significantly to business development activities.
Cultivate and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, fostering collaboration and partnership opportunities.

Technical Guidance and Evaluation:

Provide valuable technical advice on various aspects, including option analysis reports, conceptual and detailed designs, scope of works, cost estimates, and delivery plans for BESS projects.
Evaluate and refine technical elements to ensure optimal project outcomes and adherence to quality standards.

Global Collaboration on Diverse Projects:

Collaborate effectively with international teams to deliver a diverse range of projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements and industry standards.
Facilitate cross-cultural communication and understanding to enhance project efficiency and success.

Adherence to Standards and Regulations:

Your profile

Our Ideal Candidate will have:

Engineering qualifications with a focus on renewable energy or electrical engineering.
3+ years of professional experience in BESS design and project delivery.
Proven track record in grid-scale BESS project delivery.
Strong understanding of relevant standards and regulations governing BESS projects.
Knowledge of grid ancillary services and market dynamics driving BESS deployments.
Familiarity with various battery technologies, including flow battery technologies.

Elgin Energy is a full-service, utility scale, solar+storage platform bringing projects from origination through to energisation. Elgin is active across the project lifecycle from project origination through to construction management and operational asset management. In 2020, the company partnered, in separate transactions, with both Foresight Group and Metka-EGN in relation to two portfolios to deliver a total of 276MW of UK solar development projects and was successful with two Irish solar projects in Ireland's first solar auction, RESS-1 – Renewable Energy Support Scheme (RESS). In addition to the above, Elgin Energy delivered 21 solar projects, totalling 230MW, before the UK Government's Renewables Obligation (ROCs) scheme ended in 2017.

Elgin Energy works with long-term strategic partners to deliver projects to the energization and provides asset management services through their operational life. The company has expanded internationally over the last 14 years with a professional team of engineers, accountants, and lawyers located in its London, Dublin, and Sydney offices.
