Job description

POSITION:
Front of House Performance Team (inc. Supervisor Development)


LOCATION:
Trafalgar Theatre, London.


REPORTING TO:
Front of House Supervisors and Theatre Manager.


HOURS: 30-hour contracts for staff who work all 8-shows a week.


RATE OF PAY:
£11.96 per hour.

  • The
    Trafalgar Theatre opened its doors in the Summer 2021, following an extensive internal renovation, which has seen the restoration of the former Trafalgar Studios into a single, twotiered auditorium, the complete renovation of the main foyer and bars in an art deco style and significant improvements to the washroom facilities. Trafalgar Theatre is currently hosting the West End transfer of 'A Mirror' after it's acclaimed run at the Almeida in 2023.

Person Specification

  • As ambassadors for the theatre, the Front of House Performance Team are required to deliver exceptional customer service at all times, while being determined to maximise sales. This integral position requires reliable, adaptable individuals who are naturally personable and who will positively promote the reputation of the venue and its productions.
They must be fully committed to working as a positive and productive member of a team, and to adhering to our front of house motto:
"See, Smile, Say Hello", to ensure all patrons have a truly great experience at our theatre.

  • Additionally, as part of this recruitment process, the venue management are also looking for a member of the team to join a small pool of Casual Supervisors that take on Supervising responsibilities when the needs of the business require it. Supervising hours are paid at an additional uplift bringing the hourly rate to
    £13.94 for those shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • To provide positive and attentive assistance to all our patrons, in order to offer an exceptional standard of customer service and create a truly welcoming environment.
  • To help drive sales, understand and contribute to targets by gaining product knowledge and using effective selling techniques.
  • To keep a record of designated stock throughout a shift, ensuring an effective stock rotation is carried out and investigating any discrepancies with the FOH Supervisor.
  • To adhere to all health and safety procedures in order to minimise the risk of injury and accidents, including maintaining the cleanliness of all front of house and staff areas.
  • To be vigilant at all times to protect the welfare and security of yourself, colleagues and all customers.
  • To understand the venue's Business Continuity Plan and participate in regular fire drills.
  • To keep a high and consistent standard of appearance, ensuring that the theatre's image is always maintained.
  • To actively participate in training programmes and attend training courses as required in order to further selfdevelopment.
  • To complete any other delegated task that may assist the company in achieving its business objectives.
  • Additionally as a Casual Front of House Supervisor the following Key Responsibilities would also apply;
  • To ensure all documentation is kept up to date including lateness, holiday, sickness, and cash discrepancy records and that any issues are reported to the Theatre Manager.
  • To deal with customer complaints appropriately, effectively and with confidence, understanding when to escalate issues to the theatre management.
  • To develop and improve the FOH department, implementing ideas and feeding back to management on sales initiatives.
  • To prepare cash and stock prior to staff beginning their shifts, ensuring throughout the night they are given the appropriate resources to provide excellent customer service, and to complete the nightly banking in line with the company's procedures, reconciling all monies and floats.
  • To be vigilant at all times to protect your own welfare and security and that of your colleagues and all customers, reporting any accidents, incidents or near misses to Theatre Management as and when they occur.
  • To participate in regular fire drills and assist the Duty Manager in evacuating the building in accordance with the current procedures.
  • To actively participate in TE training programmes and attend training courses as required to further selfdevelopment.
  • To carry out administrative duties efficiently and accurately for the department, such as daily banking, staff rota, and merchandise stock counts
