Behaviour Mentor
Teaching Assistant at Special School in Oxford for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties
Ages 5 to 11 - Immediate Start
This opportunity is perfect for someone looking to make a difference in the lives of children facing various challenges. Whether you aspire to be a Psychologist, Therapist, or work in the Criminal Justice system, this role offers valuable experience.
A specialist school in Oxford catering to children aged 5 to 11 is seeking a Teaching Assistant to provide support for students' social skills, emotional wellbeing, and mental health. The institution specializes in offering a different educational approach for children dealing with social and emotional issues like anxiety, school refusal due to trauma, adverse childhood experiences, as well as learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dyscalculia. Working alongside trained professionals including Psychologists and Therapists, the Teaching Assistant/Mental Health Support Assistant will also have the chance to learn from their expertise.
The school's focus is on providing tailored education to children dealing with emotional challenges, fostering self-confidence, engagement, and a positive learning environment. You will play a crucial role as a Mental Health Support Assistant in nurturing their development.
The ideal Teaching Assistant/Mental Health Support Assistant should have relevant academic qualifications or experience working with young individuals. Given that many students have faced trauma, resilience and an open-minded approach are essential in addressing their mental health needs.
Join a forward-thinking and compassionate school with a dedicated team committed to making a difference. Your main responsibility in this role will be the overall social, emotional, and mental health progress of the students.
This is an enriching opportunity to support children in need and contribute to their educational journey. If you are interested in the Mental Health Support/Teaching Assistant position in Oxford, please reach out to Abi at Academics or respond directly to this posting. Interviews will be conducted starting this week.
