JOB TITLE:
Fundraising Officer


RESPONSIBLE TO:
Communications and Fundraising Manager


HOURS: 8 hrs weekly (flexible working encouraged)


SALARY:
Pro-rata £ £23449


OTHER TERMS:3% Pension Contributions

33 days holiday (including Bank holidays) Pro Rata


You will be a first-rate fundraiser with a proven track record of delivering effective fundraising campaigns and events, and be willing to support the wider work of promoting Age UK Barnsley as required.

JOB PURPOSE:

To help the organisation to achieve its mission through communicating and engaging with the community to create a network of donors, volunteers, fundraisers and service users;

  • Raising of vital funds to support the work that Age UK Barnsley does in the Barnsley borough.
  • Encouraging community support through volunteering and fundraising opportunities
with the objectives of increasing local support and donations.

  • Developing relationships with individual and corporate supporters
  • Supporting the Communications & Fundraising Officer (Manager) in raising awareness of Age UK Barnsley's work in the local community and with local organisations.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


To support the development and implementation of our community fundraising and promotional strategy

  • Working with the senior staff team to identify fundraising/promotional opportunities and develop strategies in these areas.
  • Making effective use of shops, website and social media including maintaining website as necessary to promote the organisation and raise funds.
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities alongside senior management
  • Planning and developing fundraising opportunities and events in conjunction with colleagues.
  • Monitoring income derived from fundraising activity.

To develop relationships with local organisations and employers

  • Developing and promoting opportunities to support our work
  • Researching potential supporters, both corporate and individual
  • Encouraging and supporting local initiatives by individuals, employers and community organisations
  • Work with colleagues to develop a fundraising database to assist in this work

To work closely with other staff and volunteers

  • Recruiting and managing fundraising volunteers
  • Work with retail managers to develop shop based fundraising opportunities

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • To participate in training as appropriate, to attend staff training and meetings to upgrade personal knowledge and to pass information to staff for their support
  • To liaise with partner organisations to ensure good relationships
  • To be aware of and adhere to charity sector best practice and fundraising legislation
  • To undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required by the Communication & Fundraising Manager

RELATIONSHIPS AND ACCOUNTABILITY

  • The post holder is accountable to, and managed by Communication & Fundraising Manager
  • The post holder is expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner.
  • The post requires confidentiality in relation to service users, staff and volunteers
