    Default job background
    Description

    Graduate Safety Engineer/Risk Management Consultant
    Graduate Engineer (Nuclear)
We are looking for a talented engineer who is passionate about the Nuclear Industry and driven to work and learn valuable engineering skills. This position is for a graduate-level Engineer to work as part of a team of engineers/consultants providing support to UK Nuclear Power Stations.
    Background
Risktec Solutions is an established, independent and specialist risk management consulting and training company, and is part of the TÜV Rheinland Group. We help clients to manage health, safety, security, environmental and business risk in sectors where the impact of loss is significant. Formed in 2001, Risktec has grown consistently, establishing offices across the UK and internationally, and we firmly believe a contributing factor to this growth, and what differentiates us in the marketplace, are our values and culture, our approach, independence, innovation, and knowledge sharing. Our people are high-calibre professionals, with a strong focus on meeting clients' expectations, and this is reflected in our exceptionally high client satisfaction feedback. Further information is available at (url removed).
    The Role
The successful applicant will be based in our Warrington office and will support our existing site-based Engineering Support Teams (EST) for a major nuclear client throughout their UK Nuclear Power Station fleet. You will be mentored and managed by experienced Risktec staff engineers and become part of an energetic expanding team, you will be expected to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues on multiple projects in a supportive, progressive environment.
The core role is to support the Equipment Reliability programme which will involve the following:

    • Ensuring that risk is managed throughout station processes and that quality is maintained through all aspects of the engineering process.
    • Review of equipment reliability to confirm that the plant systems and equipment will fulfil their Nuclear Safety and non-Nuclear Safety functions safely and reliably, and to plan appropriate actions where performance gaps are identified.
    • Liaising with Engineers at UK Nuclear Power Stations.
    • Attending site visits
The following key skills are required to undertake the role in support of the Equipment Reliability programme:
    • Written communication skills.
    • Stakeholder management.
    • Clear, concise communication liaising with site-based engineers.
    • Analysis and management of large datasets with the ability to develop conclusions based on analysis of data.
In addition to the core role, there will be opportunities outside of this to support a variety of challenging projects for this client and others within the nuclear industry, but also across other sectors if desired.
    Disciplines Considered
    We will consider engineers who are graduating, or have graduated in the following disciplines at a minimum BEng or BSc level;
    • Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
    • Control and Instrumentation (C&I).
    • Mechanical Engineering.
    • Chemical Engineering.
STEM graduates with relevant knowledge, including Nuclear Operations/Engineering will also be considered.
Engineers who are due to graduate, and Engineers who have been graduated for over 1 year and have relevant experience are also encouraged to apply.
    Security Clearance Checks
Due to the nature of the work, the candidate must have a suitable background that will allow them to achieve UK security clearance (please note that this is very difficult to achieve within the timescales for non-UK nationals, and you will be subject to a screening process prior to the interview to ensure that you meet the security clearance criteria).
By applying for this role, you will be agreeing to undertake an initial security clearance screening and will be asked to provide evidence of your eligibility for security clearance.
    Other Requirements
    • This opportunity has high visibility and maintains a valuable profile for us through which you will form part of our client-facing team as such, excellent interpersonal and written skills are required.
    • It is desirable that you have your own transport/clean driving license.
    Salary Package
A competitive package is offered with benefits, including:
    • An established competence framework, with regular appraisals and a defined pathway for progression.
    • 33 days' annual leave (including public holidays).
    • Flexible working, including hybrid working.
    • Company-wide, inclusive profit share scheme.
    • Private medical insurance.
    • Life insurance.
    • Up to 7.5% contribution into a pension scheme.
    • Payment of subscription fees for membership of one professional body.
What our Graduates (site and office based) say:
    • Having joined the ERAT program straight out of university, where I had primarily carried out theoretical electrical engineering work, it was a great opportunity for me to kick-start my career and see first-hand how engineering theory is put into practice in the real world."
    • One of the main highlights for me was being embedded in a team of multidisciplinary engineers within the Clients site who you cannot help but learn from every day; I give credit to this aspect of the ERAT program for really helping to broaden my knowledge into other disciplines, particularly mechanical and C&I."
    • Where the ERAT program stands out from many other graduate opportunities is that it is not merely a desk job - you are placed in an operational site where you are encouraged to familiarise yourself and participate in walk-downs of an operational plant. Knowing how something works on paper is good, being able to see how that translates into the real world is great."
    • Joining the Warrington Nuclear team has not only provided me the opportunity to work with experts in the field but also the chance to visit operational nuclear plants, meet engineers and perform site walk-downs, learning from the engineers who manage the plant. This has kickstarted my career in Nuclear, where your work assesses live systems."
    How to Apply
We are looking for driven and conscientious individuals to form a part of our nuclear team. If you feel you have the ability, aptitude, and ambition to join us, please send your CV and cover letter including your achievements and background stating why you are a strong fit for this role to The Risktec Resource Team
