An Air Intake and EGR System Engineer opportunity has become available as a result of growing demands for our clients award-winning range of diesel engines and exciting future engine development programmes.
This will suit an individual looking for an opportunity to develop their career within a fast-paced organisation at the cutting edge of engine design and development.
You will be responsible for taking engine systems and components from concept to flawless launch, ensuring a robust system/component sign-off meeting all regulatory, quality, cost, and timing requirements.
You will take full ownership and deliver Air Intake and EGR Systems from concept to delivery - from specification, through analysis, testing, and development, to engineering sign-off.
Responsibilities:
- Create Air Intake and EGR system and component specifications and design (cascaded from programme targets) using/commissioning the relevant analysis tools to support datadriven design decisions
- Develop Air Intake and EGR system and component Tech Spec, FMEAs, and DVPs
- Coordinate and supervise Intake and EGR system DVP tests/analyses (analytical, rig, engine and machine)
- Resolve engineering issues using recognised methodologies in parallel with Quality and other crossfunctional departments
- Write systems test and development technical reports for intake and EGR System
- Provide technical assistance to support programme gateways and reviews related to intake and EGR system components
- Support engineering signoff with robust test and validation data and technical reports
- Work in a simultaneous engineering environment to support the development plan, ensuring design for manufacture and assembly.
- Manage suppliers via the APQP process. Work with suppliers to deliver prototypes and PPAP parts to schedule, meeting quality and performance requirements
- Generate ideas to reduce product cost and execute tasks in support of costreduction projects.
- Have a degree in an associated mechanical engineering discipline, with a sound understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles (showing an attention to detail, and being datadriven)
- Have a sound grasp of the engine product development cycle, and expertise in engine system and component specification, design, development, and signoff (using relevant tools)
- Experience in Air Intake and EGR systems within diesel engines
- Knowledge in relevant engineering specialties (thermodynamics, fluids, metallurgy, heat transfer, etc.) necessary to develop EGR and intake system components
- Ideally, have experience with an engine manufacturer or Tier 1 supplier
- Demonstrate good project and supplier management skills, and good commercial awareness
- Demonstrated ability to independently solve problems, think critically, and generate conclusions/solutions from technical data
- EGR valve, EGR cooler, throttle valvespecific failure mode, and design experience
