About the role:

Are you looking to lead a high-performance, experienced team, whose ambition is to be the most distinctive and admired data driven, Digital Planning team in the UK?


This is your opportunity to accelerate our clients' digital and data transformation strategy, whilst developing our Digital Planning IP within Wavemaker.


In this role, you will:


  • Take control of the overall digital channel investment across a portfolio of clients, ensuring Wavemaker commercial considerations are taken into account.
  • Work 'upstream' with Strategy & Planning to ensure outputs from Provocative Planning are translated into credible digital marketing approaches.
  • Drive progress against client maturity through Wavemaker OS completed Unlock scorecards should have a clear (prioritised) roadmap and all initiatives are aligned to the Client Growth Plans managed by the Client Managing Directors.
  • Deliver net sales growth through new or existing products and services producing a business case for Chief Digital Officer and/or Head of Digital Planning to help develop with commercial teams.
  • Manage resource within client hubs, constantly looking to evolve ways of working through innovative thinking and providing solutions to resource client accounts appropriately in relation to the contract.
  • Identify areas of the Digital Planning department that can be improved to generate better work, formulating a plan to either upskill groups of individuals, or improve processes and ways of working between teams.
  • Develop better integration & collaboration between Nexus disciplines, working with Product owners and Heads of department to identify and trial new solutions.
  • Investigate future digital trends that may impact the Digital Planning department, regularly sharing information with relevant stakeholders across the business.
  • Have involvement in major agency initiatives (e.g. from the Agency Leadership Board, People Experience, or GroupM workstreams) which cover the entire Digital Planning department, or agency.
  • Proactive leadership during new business pitches (holding the pen) and bringing the strongest digital solutions to our pitch RFI, RFP and presentations.
  • Show proactive leadership in developing and presenting regular Digital Roadshows and Expos to their Client base.
  • Establish senior client relationships (primarily Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Data Officer, Chief Customer Officer) a trusted advisor who provides updates about the digital ecosystem and topics of notable interest.
  • Participate in industry events (including panels & industry presentations) and produces written thought leadership for trade publications.

  • Advises key Digital stakeholders by continuously helping them to successfully navigate through critical business changes. Uses strong deep expertise and contextual awareness to explore complex issues with stakeholders and provide trusted advice.
  • Has an expert knowledge of client and agency structures. Can identify key decision makers and has an understanding of their perspectives which is used to build relationships. Has strong knowledge of the client sector/industry which is shared to build digital strategies and plans.
  • Has a deep understanding of client and agencies' organizational structures, business processes, strategic objectives, and challenges in order to anticipate and meet their needs.
  • Digital Channel Strategic thinking and Planning
  • Uses insights on current client strategies and anticipates trends across multiple digital channels to set and deliver our digital strategy. Applies critical thinking to identify and respond to key business opportunities and risks, coaching others within the digital planning community to do the same.
  • Technical Knowledge of Products and Technical Communication skills
  • Leads the delivery of relevant and accurate technical information to drive maximum impact. Consistently delivers communications to influence and educate all levels of seniority, appropriately judging the demands of the situation.
  • Commercial Acumen
  • Tracks targets and profitability for the overall business and optimizes means to ensure profitable delivery across all digital channels for set clients. Ensures team understanding and 100% compliance with finance process and GroupM policies and procedures. Supports the client MD and wider agency to provide accurate spend forecasts to the business. Owns the overall financial process, working with nexus activation teams and continues to improve it to reduce the number of financial queries and issues. Utilizes knowledge of the business and financial impact of decisions/solutions to drive highimpact projects that support the organization and contribute to financial performance.
