Description
Job summary
We are looking for enthusiastic, highly motivated registered Pharmacy Technicians to join our successful team and contribute towards developing our community pharmacy services. The successful applicants will share our vision and be committed to our values and goals for the delivery of the best care to our patients. If you would like to work for an organisation that ensures excellence in patient care is achievable, then we would like to hear from you.
We can offer further development and training to extend your role in improving patient care. Applicants should hold Level 3 BTEC/NVQ Pharmacy Services certificate or equivalent, be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician. Experience of working in a hospital pharmacy department as a qualified technician is desirable although applications from qualified Pharmacy Technicians working in the Community or primary care sector are welcome.
We currently have several fixed term vacancies to support the TEWV pharmacy team priority of integrating pharmacy professionals into mental health community teams and primary care. Part time will be considered. The role involves providing community based medicines management services to community teams and Primary Care Networks within your identified place of work within the County Durham area.
Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business.
Main duties of the job
We have 3 roles initially on a fixed term. It is anticipated that successful implementation of the roles will result in on-going funding.
The geographical areas for the roles are as follows:-
The successful candidate will provide technical aspects of the pharmacy medicines management & medicines optimisation services. You will be based at one of the community team bases aligned to the areas covered by the role.
You will be supported by a team of other pharmacy technicians, clinical pharmacists and pharmacy assistants.
Appropriate training will be provided for all inhouse competencies related to the role
About us
The Pharmacy team in TEWV has over 100 team members including drivers, pharmacy assistants, administration, nurses, pharmacy technicians and pharmacists. Individual team members are spread across multiple sites, with a dispensary in each of our 3 localities. The locality teams work independently, but come together to agree standards and best practice, learning from each other and trying to improve.
We developed a 5-year Medicines Optimisation and Pharmacy Framework which was created with the teams to produce a shared set of themes and priorities.
The Trust is currently working with staff and partners to deliver the Community Mental Health Transformation programme (CMHTP). This is a five-year programme, driven by the NHS England Long Term Plan, that looks at the needs of local populations and how organisations can move towards a more joined up approach to services to improve the lives of people living with mental health illnesses.
This is an exciting time to be involved in the transformation of how mental health services are delivered in the community and you will be instrumental in providing medicines management and optimisation services for the benefit of service users and the wider local population, as well as supporting our wider partners in primary care.
