£45,585 to £54,395 Per Annum (A revised salary range for this grade of £48,350 to £59,421 is planned to take effect from Spring 2024).


CMVM / MGPHS / USHER Institute.

Contract type - Fixed Term available as soon as possible to 31 January 2025.

Full Time - 35 hours per week.

Location:
Usher Institute moves to a new building in Edinburgh Bioquarter, early 2024.


The Opportunity:


SCONe is an exciting interdisciplinary project for the collection, curation and classification of retinal images and has the primary aim to investigate biomarkers for neurodegeneration and more widely, establish a world-leading retinal imaging biorepository.

The post holder will develop data retrieval, storage and analysis pathways and establish required governance to support access to and analysis of retinal images and linked data.

They will oversee responsibility for appropriate processing, maintenance and documentation of SCONe data and analytic approaches, and advise on suitability of the data for research.


Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Track record of successful and timely delivery of analytical or big data-focussed projects including experience of preparing submissions for governance approvals.
  • Experience of managing staff and ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent archiving, data management, and organizational skills.
  • Solid understanding of the principles of security and confidentiality of personal data in a research context, and how to identify and mitigate risk of security breaches.
