    The Abbey Practice is looking to recruit a Senior General Practice Nurse to join our friendly team based in Arbroath. The Abbey Practice operates under a 2c arrangement with NHS Tayside.

    We are looking to recruit a proactive and experienced General Practice Nurse who will work in partnership with the Practice Nursing Team, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Manager and Lead GP.

    As part of supporting the practice development plan and RCGP Vision for General Practice, your role will facilitate the nurse-led management of long term conditions delivered to our practice population with a person centred focus and safe, effective evidence based care.

    As well as having routine General Practice Nurse skills you should have the ability to work autonomously, be an excellent team player and have commitment to professional development. We have a strong team ethos and fully support training and education requirements for practice development.

    You will provide clinical management, leadership and mentorship to the practice nursing team and undertake regular 1:1 clinical supervision sessions, annual appraisals and manage the professional development of the nursing team.

    You will be a registered nurse with the UK NMC. You will have previous supervisory or leadership experience and posses a qualification in non medical prescribing or willingness to work towards this.

    It is important that you can work as part of a team and a degree of flexibility will be required with regards to work patterns.

    Hours of work are up to 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 0800 and 1800 hours. These hours are open to negotiation and part-time or job share would be considered.

    NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
