Are you a skilled polymer/materials scientist or chemist with a passion for engineering systems? RINA Tech UK Ltd is a leading consultancy firm specialising in the design, assessment, and analysis of systems using polymeric materials.

    Position Overview:

RINA Tech UK Ltd provides support to clients across various sectors, focusing on the design, condition assessment, and failure analysis of systems employing polymeric materials. We are proud to be one of the few laboratories worldwide capable of testing polymeric pipework systems for applications in petroleum and water industries.

We are currently seeking a talented polymer/materials scientist or chemist with expertise in:
    - Polymeric materials used in engineering systems such as pipework and fittings, electrical insulators, cable insulation, and component/equipment housings.

    Understanding and/or experience in:
    - Polymer blending and constituent components of polymer systems (e.g., stabilizers and fillers).
    - Mechanisms of polymer degradation associated with environmental exposure, including temperature and chemicals.
    - Methods to characterise polymeric material composition and properties (e.g., mechanical testing, FTIR, DSC, and/or other analytical techniques).
    - Additive restrictions under current/future regulatory compliance standards.

    Responsibilities:

As a Materials Engineering Consultant, you will:

Interact directly with clients/customers to understand project requirements.
    - Develop scopes of work and compile technical/commercial proposals.
    - Complete project plans to deliver technical results.

    Your duties will include:

Acting as the primary point of contact for pipework testing customers and those investigating polymeric system degradation or failures.
    - Managing pipework testing and failure investigation projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
    - Conducting audits, including internal technical audits, and contributing to continuous improvement of RINA's QHSE processes and procedures.
    - Supporting the maintenance of RINA's ISO 17025 accreditation for petroleum pipework testing activities.
    - Conducting laboratory testing (e.g., FTIR and DSC testing) to determine the causes of polymer degradation/failure or compliance with original specifications.
    - Compiling technical reports of project findings.
    - Collaborating with business development colleagues to maintain and expand RINA/customer relationships and identify opportunities for new services.

    Additional Skills:
    - Experience in interpreting polymeric material fracture surfaces using optical and/or scanning electron microscopy (SEM) would be advantageous.

    Benefits:

As part of our growing global team, you'll find yourself working with world-class professionals and clients in a variety of market sectors. As well as that you will be rewarded with:
