About the role


Hampshire County Council are looking for a test lead for the implementation of their new Adults social care system, Care Director.

As test lead for the project, you will be responsible for successfully managing all stages of the testing of the new system.


Main Responsibilities

  • Act as test lead for the implementation of Care Director, creating and owning the test plan, and managing the testing phases
  • Provide test resource estimates and manage resource allocation of testers
  • Write and maintain appropriate documentation, including test strategies, plans, cases and scripts
  • Carry out different types of testing (i.e. functional, usability, integration, and regression testing)
  • Coordinate nonfunctional testing (i.e. performance and load testing)
  • Own and manage the defect management process working both internally and with third party suppliers
  • Identify and log defects and manage defect resolution
  • Communicate testing progress and issues to interested parties throughout the project life cycle
  • Ensure that testing processes are followed and executed to plan
  • Support the testing team with issues arising during testing and escalate as required
  • Use Azure DevOps to support the testing process
  • Use Microsoft Office Tools for administrative tasks
  • Highlight and log testing risks and issues
  • Support business staff performing UAT testing

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Strong and proven background in manual software testing
  • Experience working as a test lead on a large project
  • Experience leading and managing the testing of largescale data migrations
  • An enthusiasm for quality and appreciation of the importance of testing
  • Effective communication skills, including oral, written and presentation
  • Able to establish effective working relationships with people at all levels
  • Experience of using processes effectively
  • Selfmotivated and able to use own initiative
  • Demonstrates a methodical approach with good organisation and problemsolving skills
  • Pays attention to detail
  • Experience of working with a test management tool to create and run test cases, manage defects, and track testing progress
  • Good experience of test reporting
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office Tools
  • Experience of working in a local authority
  • Experience of social care systems

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Line management experience
  • Experience of working with Azure DevOps
