Our client was established in 2005 to support individuals with learning disabilities, autism, complex needs including Prader-Willi Syndrome and we are working with them to recruit a Specialist Behaviour Support Practitioner to support the Operations Teamto deliver high quality person-centred support based on inclusion and meaningful engagement with the people we support.
You will support services in Manchester and the surrounding services, so access to a car and a willingness to drive is essential.
We're looking for someone who can work collaboratively with colleagues including key workers to help the people we support explore and realise their potential to develop relationships, skills, and independence so that they can pursue all opportunities.
Job role of the Specialist Behaviour Support Practitioner
- In addition to nurturing safe, supported, and inspiring people, other responsibilities include:
- Working with the operations and referrals team to support during the assessment, transition and move-in of new supported individuals
- Supporting the operations team to develop the best quality of support plans
- Providing handon support during times of crisis
- To provide training for support teams on PBS, PCAS and Restrictive Practice reduction
- Undertaking functional assessments implementing intervention strategies using PBS principles
- Developing and leading on Care practice improvement initiatives
Education and Experience
- Have excellent communication skills verbal and written
- Able to travel and work in services 4 days per week as appropriate
- Skilled and knowledgeable in creative and person centered approaches to work with people
- Ability to explain, develop and follow policies and protocols
- Ability to have a flexible approach to workload and manage your own time
- Clear understanding of confidentiality and equal opportunities (equality & diversity)
- Knowledge of safeguarding and safe practice
- Understanding of current care practices in PBS, PCAS, RPI reduction, government initiatives & regulatory requirements
- Hold a recognized qualification e.g., Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) / Positive
- Behaviour Support or other relevant qualification
