    Clinical Fellow - Paediatric Haematology/Oncology/General Paediatrics
    Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust

    This post will offer applicants a fixed term placement to start in June 2024 at Sheffield Children's Foundation NHS Trust (SCFT) in paediatric haematology and oncology with out-of-hours general paediatric cover.

    It is a full time post (10PAs) for up to six months starting June 2024.

    It would be ideal for a post foundation doctor looking for additional experience in general paediatrics and a paediatric subspecialty prior to applying for paediatric training.

    The Department of Haematology/Oncology is based in the main Children's Hospital on Western Bank.

    The junior clinical fellow will join a medical team of eight paediatric haematology/oncologyconsultants together with rotational doctors-in-training at middle grade and ST1-3 level.

    Day time work will be based on the paediatric haematology and oncology ward on ward 6.

    This is a busy 20 bed ward providing inpatient care for patients with solid tumours, haematological malignancies, benign haematology problems and bone marrow transplant patients.

    They will ensure that patients are reviewed according to their clinical need, attend consultant ward rounds as appropriate and support other junior doctors and nurse practitioners in the completion of ward jobs.

    Out-of-hours cover will be on the ST1-3 general paediatric rota covering evenings and night shifts. The fellow will support with the assessment and management of acute paediatric admissions and medical in-patients.
    Keep legible and detailed clinical records
    Undertake medical audit.
    Teach medical students as directed.
    Co-operate with members of the personnel department when monitoring hours of work and other personnel issues.
    Comply with all local policies including dress code, annual and study leave

    Minimum 2 years postgraduate medical experience (equivalent to that obtained in a UK foundation training programme)
    Experience in Paediatrics for at least 4 months
    Previous experience of haematology/oncology
    Good general medical knowledge in Paediatric Medicine
    Basic assessment of acutely unwell children
