About us:

The UCL Centre for Advanced Research Computing (ARC) is UCL's new institute for infrastructure and innovation in digital research - the supercomputers, datasets, software and people that make data and computational science and digital scholarship possible.

Data Stewardship is a new profession within ARC, and this is a great opportunity to help shape the future of both the department and research practice more generally.

About the role:

Our Research Data Stewards will provide technically-focused support and consultancy to researchers at UCL, helping them to improve their data management, align with university policies, and enable Open Science and FAIR data.

They will spend much of their time embedded within research projects, but also contribute to new research proposals and collaborate on research data service design, feeding in researcher requirements to ensure that the suite of research support services offered by UCL remains relevant and effective.

The salary range for this role is £42,099 to £54,794 including London Allowance depending on experience.

About you:

As a Research Data Steward, you will have experience of conducting data-intensive research in an academic research environment and have the technical skills to document, process and transform data.

You will need to be an excellent communicator with the ability to explain technical and specialised concepts clearly to non-technical academic and support staff.

This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 20% on site.

Please use the cover letter upload option to tell us how you meet the person specification criteria.

What we offer:

As well as the exciting opportunities this role presents, we also offer some great benefits some of which are below:
A yearly promotion scheme across grades.

The scheme aims to make it easier for high-performing staff demonstrating the appropriate skills and behaviours of performing at a higher grade to be recognised and to accelerate their internal career progression.

41 Days holiday (27 days annual leave 8 bank holiday and 6 closure days)

Additional 5 days' annual leave purchase scheme
