    Job summary

    The Role of the Registered Nurse Associate Practitioner is to (assist and) support the qualified health professionals in ensuring optimal care for the patients and the success of the trust.

    The delivery of high quality, effective and compassionate health care to the patients of the Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust is the most important objective for the organisation

    Main duties of the job

    To support the team (qualified practitioners) in the delivery of a seven day, twenty-four hour service, this includes:

    Providing effective evidence based care for patients referred to the service under the indirect supervision of qualified practitioners

    Using personal effectiveness and knowledge to contribute to the development and delivery of a high quality, cost effective service.

    To work closely with the Multidisciplinary Team

    To promote a positive image of the trust, service and department.

    To complete the Band 4 competency framework within the identified time scale

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • oRegistered Nursing Associate on the NMC register. Or oAssociate practitioner with a health-related Foundation Degree Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care.
  • oOR Overseas nursing qualification without NMC registration. Evidence of numeracy, literacy and IT skills - minimum national qualification level 2.
  • Desirable

  • oAssessed as competent to administer medications.
  • oExtended clinical skills venesection/cannulation.
  • oCare Certificate.
  • Experience & Knowledge

    Essential

  • oExperience of working under appropriate supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • oExperience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information.
  • oKnowledge of nursing procedures and practices in an acute hospital setting.
  • Skills and Ability

  • oTo work within a team, delegate and escalate in line with role and scope of practice.
  • oAbility to organise and prioritise own delegated workload.
  • oAbility to deal with non-routine and unpredictable nature of workload and individual patient contact.
  • oAbility to communicate effectively (written, verbal and non-verbal communication) with patients/relatives and carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • oAbility to support, supervise, assess (if appropriate) and act as a role model to nursing associate students, other learners and health care support workers as required within clinical setting.
  • oInsight into how to evaluate own strengths and develop needs, seeking advice where appropriate.

  • Understand and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code. Understands the requirements for NMC professional revalidation.
