    We are looking for an Clinical Nurse Specialist – Breast Care to join the team at our Milton Keynes centre.

    As the Clinical Nurse Specialist in Breast Care, you are responsible for supporting patients receiving external beam radiotherapy in the centre and further developing the service to support management of increasingly complex patient pathways. This role is best suited to an experienced Oncology nurse who can practice autonomously.

    Hours: Full-time (37.5), permanent

    What you'll do:

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Work in partnership with Consultants, Centre Leader, the clinical and administration team to develop and provide an expert robust CNS service provision.
  • Function as an expert clinical practitioner and source of expertise within the Oncology service.
  • Work in partnership with the Milton Keynes team, including SACT suite and Oncology ward, to develop robust safe patient pathways.
  • Work in the clinic areas of GenesisCare centre so that all operational objectives and standards are achieved, and the reputation of GenesisCare for exceptional service and outcomes is maintained at all times
  • Proactively deliver safe, effective and personal care in a caring and compassionate manner ensuring streamlined pathways
  • Act as a patient key worker across the clinical Oncology pathway as required
  • Coordinate and manage transitions of care and support for the patient and family/carer through the patient pathway
  • Provide expert nursing advice and support to other healthcare professionals involved in the patients care
  • In collaboration with Centre Leader, Lead Rads and Consultants; develop standards of care and patient oncology treatments pathways that reflect Patient needs
  • Proactively seek to improve the service, working with key stakeholders to continuously improve referral waiting times and access to treatment

  • Qualifications and Knowledge:

  • Registered nurse (Level 1 Adult branch NMC) degree level– Essential
  • Minimal 3 years post reg experience is essential with 5 years desirable.
  • Minimum 2 years working relevant Oncology experience at Band 6 or above
  • Demonstrate up to date knowledge of current Oncology management pathways and associated treatments
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in total management of cancer and treatment related complications
  • Hold a relevant qualification in Oncology at level 2/3
  • IT literate
  • Other requirements for this role:

  • Primarily work Monday to Friday office hours but will participate in out of hours working where necessary to support service delivery
