    Description

    Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

    Company: Subsea Cables & Umbilical Systems

    Duration: 12-Month Fixed Term Contract

    Location: M4/M5 Corridor (Hybrid Working)

    Description: Are you enthusiastic about engineering and eager to have a significant impact in the subsea sector? Our client, a leading designer and global provider of versatile cables and umbilical systems for various industries such as offshore Oil and Gas, Diving, Seismic, Defence, and Special Applications, is looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a 12-month fixed term contract (covering maternity leave) to contribute to their continuous growth and success.

    About the Company: Our client is globally recognized for their expertise in designing and manufacturing cables and umbilical systems. They emphasize building strong relationships with clients and suppliers, focusing on innovation and excellence in all aspects of their operations.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Interpret customer requirements
    • Create CAD drawings
    • Develop technical bid documentation
    • Ensure designs adhere to industry standards in coordination with the Design Manager

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Required:
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering and manufacturing
    • Theoretical knowledge in basic electrical theory, basic hydraulics, materials, stress & strain, and fatigue
    • Proficiency in 2D CAD software, preferably Autodesk products; Experience in 3D CAD (SolidWorks) is advantageous
    • Familiarity with MS Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook
    • Preferred:
    • Experience with quality systems like ISO 9001 and corrective action resolution
    • Background in cable/umbilical design and manufacture or in subsea oil and gas, diving, seismic, defence, or special applications
    • Knowledge of engineering documentation control systems (advantageous to have experience with SolidWorks EPDM)

    Educational Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering
