    Description
    To provide robust audit and management practices and systems to support the Clinical Coding department deliver its strategic objectives.
    Organise and undertake complex internal/external audits of clinical coding data.
    Undertake clinical coding audits at the levels of Trust, Department and individual clinical coding officer.

    Organise all aspects of the external audits, to be carried out in a manner consistent with the Audit Commission and /or NHS Digital Guidelines.

    Produce formal audit reports within agreed timescales and make recommendations on how to improve Clinical Coding quality and accuracy.

    Feedback from audits to be delivered and training given as necessary to coding and clinical staff as required.

    Carry out at least one trust-wide internal audit of 200 FCE's per year in accordance with NHS Digital guidelines.

    Work with the Senior Manager to provide expertise within the Audit service area.
    Have responsibility for Trust wide audits, making independent decisions at appropriate level
    Work with the Senior Managers, Clinicians and Team members on a number of audits
    Undertake clinical coding audits at the levels of Trust, Department and
    individual clinical coding officer. Trust-wide audits must be conducted using
    the latest version of the national NHS Digital Clinical Coding Audit
    Be responsible for developing and tracking the progress of audit plans
    To identify and manage risks and issues within the service, including the
    development and implementation of contingency plan
    To make routine presentations, covering complex issues to groups on topics associated with programmes/projects and to demonstrate systems to users when necessary
    Work with external data sources for benchmarking purposes review or audit information if required from alerts.
    Organise and undertake complex internal/external audits of clinical coding data.
    Organise all aspects of the external audits, to be carried out in a manner
    consistent with the Audit Commission and /or Connecting for Health Guidelines.
    Produce formal audit reports within agreed timescales and make
    recommendations on how to improve Clinical Coding quality and accuracy.
    Carry out at least one trust-wide internal audit of 200 FCEs per year in

    Undertake regular routine Internal audits of clinical coding and all aspects of the clinical coding function to ensure high quality data is supported and appropriate action is taken when necessary to ensure the clinical coding team displays a high level of skill in the use of the two classification systems.

    Maintain ACC and audit status as required by NHS classification service
    Maintain up-to-date knowledge of National policy developments in regards to deadline changes, in particular the SUS (Secondary User Service)


    Performance Management:
    Performance Indicators within the audit/coding service.

    performance levels and provide supporting information to explain improvements or degradation in service and action taken to resolve situations and to achieve progress.

    The post holder in conjunction with the Senior Manager will liaise with others to ensure they are briefed as to service achievements.

    The post holder will work to achieve agreed service objectives working within broad professional policies acting on their own initiative.

    Provide full support for internal and external audits and act on recommendations as appropriate.
    Dedicate the required concentration required to collate, analyse, check and report on information, while coping with ongoing audit issues and

    Education and Training Development:
    Provide coding training to staff via feedback from completed audits to Trust wide staff.

    National Clinical Coding Qualification National Auditors Qualification

    Experience producing and monitoring coding process KPI's
    Significant experience of working in a Coding environment
    Experience of managing, training and Coding audits
    Advanced MS Word and Excel skills
