The Company

Able Bridge Recruitment are thrilled to be working exclusively with an employee owned events company based in the Livingston region.

A vacancy of bookkeeper has become available due to a significant increase in business transactions as well as a long standing member of the team retiring.

The company organise events for professional bodies/memberships and offer a competitive basic salary, performance related bonus (profit share), above average pension, death in service, free parking as well as several other core benefits.

You will be reporting to the finance director and will be a senior within a team of 3 where you will be the lead bookkeeper and deputise for the finance director in their absence.

The Responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to provide accounting support to the finance director and to take a lead in the accounts department in terms of the smooth running of an efficient and effective finance team, whilst freeing up the finance director to complete tasks that are of a strategic nature.

On a day-to-day basis you can expect to be responsible for the following;
Preparation of a portfolio of client monthly management accounts including journals, prepayments and accruals.
Oversight of the processing of sales and purchase ledger invoices
Process payroll for a portfolio of clients from start to finish.
Preparation of VAT returns and submit these to companies house.
Calculation of partial VAT returns for several specific clients.
Preparation of year end accounts to trial balance.
Be the main point of contact for HMRC and auditors.

Our client will be expecting the successful applicant to be based in the office on a blended working model, the model that we are working with is 60% in the office and 40% working at home, however this may change and you may be expected to work more often in the office.

If, however, applicants wish to work longer in the office the option is available to them.
