    Job Description

    Role Profile

    The Data Governance Director is a newly established strategic and operational role, focused on transforming how B2B events and digital services divisions utilise the wealth of data housed in Informa's IIRIS marketing platform, to create synergies and growth opportunities.

    The role will lead data excellence of the Commercial Data domain (Audience, Client + Product) across Informa.

    The role will build out and lead a team of data strategy, data governance, data quality and data analytics experts that will act as a gateway between B2B divisions and TS&S, prioritising strategic business needs and delivering against them.

    The role will deliver policies and standards, and inform technology decisions to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance of Informa's Data.

    The role will work closely with B2B business leadership as well as Informa's group strategy, technology, and privacy teams to foster a data-driven culture, promote data literacy, and champion data-driven commercial decision-making across the organisation.

    The role must have a track record of not only devising data strategies but also overseeing and ensuring their successful implementation and adoption across all levels of the organization, including TS&S. The role will possess the leadership qualities necessary to champion and secure buy-in for commercial data standards and initiatives at Informa.

The candidate will be joining a supportive executive team who are committed to delivering on Informa's data ambitions.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Own and deliver a Data Governance strategy and roadmap priorities across people, processes and platforms for Informa's B2B divisions
    • Establish common KPIs for the Commercial Data domain to be used across the B2B divisions
    • Build and lead a centre of excellence for Data Governance, including hiring and mentoring data professionals across various departments
    • Oversee the creation and deployment of Commercial Data governance policies, standards, procedures to ensure consistent compliance with applicable laws and high data quality
    • Oversee Data Governance management strategy, activities and capabilities, including data acquisition, storage, integration, transformation, and analytics, improving data availability, accessibility, and usability across the organisation
    • Ensure Informa's Data platforms and services capabilities enable existing and emerging value-generating use cases
    • Build a data-driven culture that values Data Governance as a strategic asset and ensures divisions have what they need to deliver business value
    • Develop and deliver Data Governance training programs to build data literacy across the organization, with a focus on improving marketing and sales effectiveness
    • Build relationships with business and data professionals across the organisation to generate sponsorship, buy-in and ownership of the data strategy delivery
    • Work closely with business leaders to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) for Informa's effective collection, use, and management of data and develop dashboards and reports to track progress against these metrics
    • Work in close partnership with Privacy and Information Security (InfoSec) teams to ensure that data strategies and initiatives are fully compliant with legal, regulatory, and security standards.
    • Proven expertise in establishing and overseeing inter-company data exchange initiatives, including the negotiation of data sharing agreements.

    Qualifications

    What we're looking for

    Ideal candidates will be individuals whose qualities include:

    • Extensive of experience in data management, analytics, or related fields, with at least 5 years in senior leadership positions
    • Proven track record in data strategy development and implementation in large organisations, preferably in global and/or B2B companies
    • Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and data compliance best practices as well as data management tools, technologies, and practices, and advanced analytics
    • Experience building teams of data professionals: the role will be cultivating and empowering skilled teams in a new function, supporting them in influencing change in a dynamic organisation
    • Experience spearheading data initiatives: the role will be a cultural leader across the company setting the standards required to successfully deliver against our strategic ambition while retaining Informa's cultural values
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills: Informa is in continuous learning mode as the market changes and needs someone to effectively bring the rest of the business along the journey to being data-led
    • Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation, and external partners, acting as the foundation for trusted partnerships
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Experience working in or with marketing teams would be desirable
