    Salary: £24,708 - £25,983 per annum plus Market Premia for HGV Driver @ £1.50 per hour

    Working Hours: 40.5 hours per week, annualised hours are calculated on a yearly basis.

    An opportunity within the Contracts and Haulage Team at Leicestershire County Council has become available, we are currently looking to recruit a specialist HGV Driver (Ro-Ro) to join the team. The role will be responsible for transporting waste materials from Leicestershire County Council's Recycling and Household Waste Sites (RHWS) to disposal locations, using hook loader heavy goods vehicles (HGVs).

    About the Role

    The successful candidate will be required to complete all uplifts and other jobs on any given day, and to do so in the most efficient and effective manner. The nature of the work will involve a 4 on 4 off shift pattern with the jobholder carrying out work outside of normal working hours, including bank holidays, weekends and out of hours working.

    You will be organised, personable with good communication skills to enable you to interact with council colleagues and external contractors and foster good working relationships.

    About You

    To apply for this post, you must have:

  • HGV licence & Driver CPC
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks in line with policy and legislation, and sign the driver handbook
  • Report all defects daily if considered serviceable, liaising with the supervisor if unsure. Major defects to be reported immediately
  • Ensure tachographs are signed for and returned monthly (or driver books)
  • Good Organisational and interpersonal skills. Health & Safety astute
  • Ability to prioritise workload effectively
  • Full valid driving license including Business Insurance
  • You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion.
