Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 5 physiotherapist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.The successful candidate will participate in our physiotherapy rotational scheme with the opportunity to experience 4 monthly rotations including Trauma, Burns, Oncology and Haematology, Cardiothoracic, Medicine, Musculoskeletal outpatients, Specialist Surgery, Neurosciences and Stroke, Critical Care Rehab and the Respiratory Support unit.
There are also out of Trust rotations including MSK OP Gym, Orthopaedics, Hydrotherapy, learning Disabilities and Norman Power Centre (inpatient rehabilitation).
This is an ideal opportunity for a newly qualified, or more experienced physiotherapist to build skills with support in order to have excellent clinical reasoning, communication skills, problem solving skills and be an effective team member of the MDT in order to provide a high standard physiotherapy service.
The post holder will participate in delivery of out of hours services during weekends, and overnight on call (following comprehensive competency training).
The successful candidate will have access to regular clinical supervision, peer support and a range of training opportunities.You will be supported in participating in annual appraisals and will be supported to complete your preceptorship in your first year of working within the trust.
The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, a flexible approach & the ability to work autonomously. They will need good clinical reasoning & prioritisation skills to provide a high standard of physiotherapy care.The individual should have relevant clinical experience for this post, & will need experience of working within the acute NHS in an MDT.
They should provide evidence of relevant courses & training plus commitment to ongoing CPD. g formal training, clinical reasoning sessions, peer review & case conferences.The individual will be supported to become involved with supervision, education & assessment of physiotherapy students on placement, and will be involved in teaching & training of therapy assistant staff.
We run a comprehensive in service education programme, and band 5 staff are fully supported to complete their preceptorship. We offer a buddy system for new band 5 starters to the department.Band 5 staff are expected to undertake on-call & emergency duty work once they have completed our comprehensive competency programme.
