    Laboratory Technician

    Job Description

    Cansford Laboratories is a state-of-the-art Hair and Oral Fluid Drug and Alcohol Testing Lab based in Cardiff. Cansford Laboratories are market leaders in the latest methods of Drug and Alcohol Testing and has a team with enviable pedigree, who pioneered hair testing over 25 years ago. Today the Laboratory offers a modern, fast, class-leading service.

    We are looking for a full-time Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic, innovative team. The successful candidate will have impeccable attention to detail, will be reliable, responsible and accountable. Able to work self-directed, you will be a team player with excellent organisational skills.

    Reporting to our Laboratory Manager, the main duties of the role will include:

    · Calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment

    · Preparation of laboratory solutions

    · Replenishment of chemicals

    · Archiving and disposal of samples as required

    · General laboratory procedures and housekeeping

    · Supporting other members of staff in their work as appropriate or as directed by management

    In return we offer excellent rates of pay, up to a 6-month probationary period (during which all training will be given by a member of our highly qualified team) and 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays. You will also be enrolled into our pension scheme.

    You will be expected to make yourself available for work between the hours of 9-5pm for a 35-hour week rota pattern.

    Cansford is currently trialling an optional working rota, where the normal working day is extended slightly to fit 15 days into 14. If you wish to join the rota, you will have an extended weekend every 3 weeks
