    Job summary

    ABL Health, aims to provide high-quality, evidence-basednutritional care that is clinically and cost-effective. The service works with varioushealth professionals, partner departments and organisations, including GPpractices and other community services.

    You will join a new team comprising a Head ofService, nutritionists, therapists, exercise specialists andadministrators. The post holder willwork within the wider MDT of GPs, psychologists, dietitians, nutritionists,exercise specialists and healthy lifestyle advisors to provide dieteticexpertise for the Weight Management Service.This will involve providing diet patient care, contributing to MDT,supervising and supporting the nutrition element of the service, leadingclinics and supporting group education and intervention sessions. Developmentof resources and staff training is also included. The interventions can occur via telephone,digital platforms or face-to-face community venues across the footprint. You will be supported by the Obesity lead,service manager, project lead and the wider MDT.

    Main duties of the job

    To assist the existing team in providing quality nutrition input within ABLHealth. You will work closely with othernutritionists and MDT members for patient care and ongoing service development. Additionally, you will provide specialist advicewithin ABL Health and externally to colleagues, GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals who attend Care Coordinator meetings. The role will requiredynamic working that embraces the vision and values we wish to establish forthe Children and Young Peoples specialist weight management service to supportpeople to achieve healthy lives.

    ABLs highly experienced and friendly multi-disciplinary team of Healthand Social Care professionals, Business Intelligence, Service Development,Governance, Finance and Business Development are there to support.Additionally, existing experienced delivery teams will be available to supportyou to drive the Service forward.

    You will be passionateabout working with individuals to begin the life changing processes necessaryfor permanent and continued weight loss and weight maintenance.

    You will understandchallenges and barriers that adults face with relation to their health (bothphysical and mental) and wellbeing. You will engage with and build a goodrapport with adults from varying communities across Nottinghamshire..

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver ABL Healths adult/family weight management programme including nutrition, behaviour change and exercise delivery to groups and though one-to-ones, through digital methods such as zoom/phone appointments.
  • Lead on the delivery of multi-disciplinary assessments working closely with ABLs GP and Psychotherapist to determine an appropriate, person-centred care plan.
  • Deliver evidence-based education around nutrition, physical activity and behavioural change as advised by ABL Health team and in line with ABL Health programme curriculums.
  • Deliver programmes with a client centred approach using skills of positive psychology and motivational interviewing.
  • Monitor clients progress through regular consultation and with the use of Microsoft excel, identifying specific treatment for those not on track to achieve their goals.
  • Work with clients and stakeholders to co-produce in session materials.
  • Contribute to the contract performance report by submitting regular case studies to the project lead.
  • Contribute to and support ABL Healths social media pages.

  • Contribute to training and support new staff and volunteers.
  • Working with individuals and groups using SMART goal setting
  • Keep detailed files, recording data accurately, ensuring all forms and other documentation is completed correctly.
  • Undertake and complete all mandatory and additional skills training as required.
  • Have a thorough understanding of ABL Health policies and procedures.
  • Engage and recruit potential clients at promotional and community events.
  • Develop curriculum resources to be signed off by the service professional lead and utilised in projects.
  • Contribute to ongoing service development needs.
  • To attend and actively participate in team and wider company meetings, such as MDT and clinical supervision.
  • Maintain regular CPD in line with the AFN regulations, working towards full registration when appropriate.
  • Be able to organise own workload in order of priority and deadline dates, daily administration tasks and other work-related activities.
  • To demonstrate personal and professional development in line with ethos of lifelong learning
  • To work within the framework of clinical governance in order to maintain and improve patient care, quality and efficiency.
  • Mentor and support Nutritionists with day-to-day queries
  • Provide support for Nutritionists working towards full registration with the AFN (RNutr).
  • Be first point of call for any team queries in the absence of the Project Lead.
  • Provide training to and support the induction process for new and existing Nutritionists.
  • Provide or contribute to companywide nutrition training, where applicable.
  • Support Project Lead with staff supervisions for central team.
  • Support Project Lead with the writing of performance reports, where required.
  • Support the Project Lead with the development of the digital service.
  • To be able to travel flexibly across the project area, where required.

    Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Degree in nutrition and registered with Association for Nutrition (AFN), as a Registered Associate Nutritionist (ANutr)
  • Registered with Association for Nutrition (AFN) as a Registered Nutritionist (RNutr)
  • CIMSPA (previously REPS) qualified Level 2 Gym instructor/Group exercise award or equivalent
  • Registration with CIMSPA (this can be obtained within 6 months of employment)
  • Desirable

  • Sports Coaching qualification
  • REPS qualified Level 3 award of GP/Exercise Referral or equivalent (willingness to be trained within 4 months of starting)
  • Skills and Knowledge

    Essential

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly with people
  • Excellent administration, record keeping and data collection skills
  • IT literate, preferably with experience using Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Confident and able to produce written reports under tight deadlines
  • Must have a high attention to detail
  • Pro-active approach and ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to manage stressful situations and cope in a fast paced work environment

  • Previous paid or voluntary experience working with people
  • Previous experience managing or mentoring people at either induvial or team level
