    Description


    We are looking for a Sous Chef to assist the Head Chef to drive the new restaurant at The Murray Arms forward, manage and oversee the daily running of Kitchen operations whilst delivering consistency and exceeding guest expectations.


    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESFOOD PREPARATION & COOKING:
    Assist in the preparation of high-quality dishes whilst following established recipes andstandardsSupervise the cooking process to ensure food quality and taste meet the standards of therestaurantMonitor food rotation and collaborate with the head chef on ordering suppliesBackground in Europe cuisineKnowledge and experience of a range of meat & game cookery


    KITCHEN MANAGEMENT:
    Oversee and smoothly run the kitchen in the absence of the head chefEncourage and mentor kitchen team membersMaintain a clean and organised kitchen environment adhering to safety, health andhygiene whilst ensuring HACCAP guidelines and paperwork are followed and completedEnsure any faulty equipment is reported immediately to the correct department


    MENU DEVELOPMENT:
    Collaborate with the Head Chef and the overall kitchen team to create new dishes andspecialsParticipate in menu planning, costing and pricingMake recommendations for improvements to menu items based on customer feedbackand culinary trends


    TEAM LEADERSHIP:
    Provide guidance and support to the kitchen team ensuring a positive work environmentAssist with rotas and assign duties effectively


    QUALITY CONTROL:


    Perform regular quality checks on food products to ensure freshness and tasteMonitor portion control to minimize food wastage and maintain cost controlAddress any quality or consistency issues promptlyRequirements for the RoleProven experience as a sous chef in a high volume kitchenStrong knowledge of culinary techniques, food presentation and kitchen equipmentExcellent leadership and communication skillsAbility to communicate and work well with staff in a fast paced, high pressure environmentAttention to detail and commitment to qualityTo be able to maintain a positive outlook and attitudeBe forward thinkingFlexibility in working patternsIf you are a seasoned culinary professional with a passion for excellence, creativity, and leadership, we invite you to apply for the position of Head Chef.
