    Description

    Role:
    Manufacturing Technician – Electronics & Optics

    Their technology allows measurement of mass of molecules and particles without the need for traditional labelling techniques, providing real time analysis, with the potential to advance the current understanding of complex biological and chemical systems.

    Our client is looking for an experienced Manufacturing Technician to help deliver next generation instruments involving a combination of lasers, electro-optics systems, 3D positioners, high speed CMOS detectors and microfluidics.


    Assembly and test of instrumentation:
    Producing equipment to detailed Work Instructions, assembly instructions and documented test routines.


    Manufacturing techniques include:
    Producing electrical harnesses
    Assembling electronic sub-systems

    Final Acceptance Testing (FAT) Test routines are bespoke to the client, but clearly documented – training will be given.

    Involvement at all stages of the wider operations and manufacturing processes:

    To understand, design and implement lean manufacturing techniques to ensure the manufacture of both electronic and optical systems is well organised, straightforward to perform and provides an economical process.

    Work with bills of material, part procurement and stock holding to ensure forward planning and smooth running of the operations activities.

    Continuous improvement of operations facilities, tools and techniques. Archive of test results and tracking of key performance metrics.

    Relevant industrial operations experience (approx. Ability to assemble electronic subsystems, including fault finding (eg continuity testing).
    Experience of assembly of high precision and/or delicate parts, optics handling and use of lasers.
    Some experience of testing high-technology equipment prior to shipping.
    Laser safety training to Class 4 laser use.
    Previous experience of assembling and testing scientific instrumentation.
    Working knowledge of precision mechanics (tolerance budgets) and electronics firmware development.
    System design project leadership. Outsourced design and manufacture partnerships.
