    Would you like to join our dynamic team of Paediatric Nurses in our Safari Day Unit?

    Please note that this vacancy is for registered nurse associate on the NMC .

    We are a friendly dedicated team of Paediatric Nurses and Paediatric consultants. The department is committed to continuous improvements in the service and benefits from having a Paediatric Nurse Educator.

    The Safari Day Unit Department provides nursing care and support to children and young people aged 0-16 years in a children's environment.
    It is located 1st floor Maternity building and has its own designated 10 beds.

    Main duties of the job

    We are currently looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Band 4
    Nurse Associate with experience and a passion in general paediatrics.

    Safari day unit caters for different specialities in surgery including ENT, dental, orthopaedics, gastroenterology, urology. In addition, we provide service in MRI, food challenges, endocrine test and ward attenders for prolong jaundiced.

    The post holder should be a registered nurse associate, have excellent communication skills and be keen to promote clinical excellence within our team.

    We are dedicated to supporting the development of our paediatric nurses and nursing associate within our service and offer continuing professional development including, PILS, Venepuncture and cannulation and progression to the pathway of band 5.

    You will have a supernumerary period on commencing the post and will be allocated a mentor alongside the practice educator to support you.
    The trust also has a well-established preceptorship programme which you will be part of which will also see you qualify as a student Supervisor by the end of your first year with us.

    Detailed job description and main responsibilities

    To work as a skilled member of the nursing team, to provide a high standard of holistic family centred care to the children and their families.
    To act as a role model and expert nurse associate practitioner.
    To support the nursing team in managing the clinical area, including management of students and HCA.
    To undertake delegated responsibility for the department in the absence of paediatric nurses.
    The post holder could be required to work on any children's area according to the needs of the service.

    Education and qualifications

    Essential criteria

  • Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register.
  • Educated to a minimum level 5 Foundation degree level specific to nursing associate practice.
  • Care Certificate. GCSEs Grade AC in Maths and English or equivalent
  • Desirable criteria

  • QCF in Care / Health and Social Care Level 2/3 or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge

    Essential criteria

  • Meet the requirements of the Standards of Proficiency for Nursing Associates (NMC, 2018)
  • Able to recognise own limitations in the context of the Nursing Associate role.
  • Knowledge of when to seek advice and refer to a registered health or care professional
  • Ability to participate in reflective practice and clinical supervision activities.
  • Experience

    Essential criteria

  • Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information.

  • Previous experience of working within a healthcare setting
