Development Engineer

Peterborough/Remote - Hybrid

12 month initial contract


A Development Engineer opportunity has become available for one of the world's leading manufacturers of off-highway machinery and diesel and natural gas engines.


  • Assume component development responsibilities within a small, dedicated team to introduce fuel system components onto our range of diesel engines.
  • Develop and optimize the validation plan, gaining team and stakeholder approval. Drive it to completion through bench and engine tests within our engine R&D centre.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues using 8D methodology (establish containment actions, diagnose root cause, develop permanent corrective actions).
  • Plan and communicate progress to peers, stakeholders, and management.
  • Collaborate closely with the design engineers and suppliers to develop and refine the solution and support the release of parts onto bills of material in preparation for volume production.
  • Strong technical background: bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electronic, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering is preferred, though other qualifications/experience will be considered.
  • Good understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals and component development, particularly the systems which contain fluid flow on the engine.
  • Effective communication skills and teamwork.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing principles and processes, particularly electromechanic components and the related technical challenges.
