Job summary
Pre op Assessment is a very busy and fast paced department within the Digestive Diseases CBU.
The department assess all adult patients who are intending to have surgery under general anaesthetic or spinal/epidural anaesthetic, covering a wide range of specialities within the Trust. The post holder will facilitate the provision of a co-ordinated, high-quality service, by working with the whole team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible as a registered, accountable, and autonomous nurse to always act in the best interests of patients and take responsibility for own actions, omissions, and decisions. Be responsible for planning, delivering, and supervising safe and compassionate care, and evaluating the effectiveness of care.
Review, develop and initiate development of clinical investigation results processes, liaising with Nurse Practitioners, CNS and ACP, to develop protocols and practice to ensure the effective delivery of service to patients within the Trust.

6. Listen sensitively to patients and visitors who may be anxious or distressed and respond with sensitivity and empathy.
