Role Overview

A Level 3 IT Infrastructure and Network Engineer on the Service Desk, acting as a single point of contact for our customers, logging and managing all calls, emails, and tickets within SLA, whilst acting as an escalation point for the Service Desk and implementing internal improvements.

The candidate

The successful applicant will be responsible for the delivery of support that enables our clients' business systems to operate cost-effectively and robustly, the mentoring of junior/less experienced team members, monitoring, knowledge management, and documentation.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years' experience of working on an IT Service Desk/MSP in a similar background/role with a strong background of network technologies, and an appreciation of ITIL Service Management Disciplines i.e., Incident, Problem, and Change Request Management.

We are looking for a candidate who can adapt to the dynamic nature of our business which requires the candidate to be flexible in his or her approach to work to achieve operational efficiency for the client.

Infrastructure Engineer Responsibilities

Manage our customers' Office 365 and Azure environments.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful deployment, configuration, and maintenance of Office 365 services and Azure infrastructure.
Strong background in Microsoft cloud technologies, excellent problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of Office 365 and Azure services.
Design and deploy Office 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and other related applications, based on business requirements and best practices.
Configure and manage Azure infrastructure components, such as virtual machines, storage accounts, virtual networks, and Azure Active Directory.
Implement and enforce security measures and compliance standards for Office 365 and Azure environments.
Monitor and troubleshoot issues related to Office 365 services and Azure infrastructure and perform root cause analysis for problem resolution.
Implement automation and scripting using PowerShell or other relevant tools to streamline administrative tasks and optimize workflows.
Provide support and technical guidance to end-users on Office 365 and Azure-related matters.
Stay up to date with the latest features, updates, and best practices for Office 365 and Azure.
Document Office 365 and Azure configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

Network Engineer Responsibilities

Design and implement network infrastructure solutions based on business requirements and industry best practices.
Install, configure, and maintain network equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless controllers.
Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network issues to ensure optimal performance and availability.
Conduct network capacity planning and recommend enhancements to meet future growth requirements.
Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access control policies.
Collaborate with Projects Department to integrate network infrastructure with other systems and applications.
Perform network documentation and keep network diagrams, configurations, and inventory up to date.
Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies and make recommendations for network infrastructure improvements.
Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers on the ServiceDesk.

Knowledge and Experience

Proven work experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, VLAN, VPN, BGP, OSPF, etc.).
Hands-on experience with network equipment such as Cisco routers and switches, firewalls, and wireless controllers.
Solid knowledge of network security concepts, including firewall configuration, VPN setup, and intrusion detection systems.
Proficiency in network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, SNMP monitoring).
Experience with network performance optimization and capacity planning
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyse and resolve complex network issues.
Experience with Microsoft Cloud solutions.
Previous experience with Microsoft Azure environment (Azure backups, virtual machines management, storage accounts, site to site VPN, PowerShell, Azure Virtual Desktop).
Experience with Device Management Systems, i.e., Intune, Datto RMM, TeamViewer.
Strong understanding of Windows Server Operating Systems and Server Virtualization.
Practical knowledge of DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, Hyper-V, Exchange, WDS
General knowledge and troubleshooting of smartphones.
Practical knowledge of multifactor authentication solutions in Azure and on-premises.
Experience using backup products and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., Azure, SkyKick, Barracuda and Spanning).
Understanding Windows deployment services (e.g., Device enrolment, MDM, Autopilot, White glove, Endpoint Management).
Knowledge of Microsoft security suites e.g., Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Office 365, MCAS and Endpoint Management/Intune.
Strong knowledge of the ITIL framework.

Technical Certifications

Preferably degree educated in a relevant subject.
