    Description

    Our client is seeking a talented CNC Programmer, setter, and operator to work with either sliding heads or CNC fixed heads machines.



    Sliding Heads: The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and running sliding head lathes. We currently operate a variety of Citizen and Star machines. This is a full-time position.


    CNC Fixed Heads: The perfect candidate will be in charge of setting up and running CNC Fixed head machines. Currently, we operate various Doosan, Nakamura, Citizen, and DMG Mori machines. This is a full-time role.

    Detailed Daily Tasks:

    • Review drawings and job travelers to determine machining requirements, dimensional specifications, setup, and operational needs.
    • Retrieve and load programs from our server storage.
    • Select and install appropriate tools for the tasks.
    • Determine correct feeds and speeds for different stainless-steel grades and exotic materials.
    • Interpret and make modifications to CNC programs, using Fanuc and Mitsubishi control systems.
    • Adhere to quality standards and perform required inspections.
    • Apply Lean Manufacturing techniques to enhance productivity and reduce setup times.
    • Inspect final components visually.
    • Utilize precision measuring instruments and gauges.
    • Correctly label components post-manufacturing.
    • Identify opportunities for Continuous Improvement.
    • Foster a team-oriented work environment.
    • Maintain a clean working area.
    • Support the implementation of "Best Practices" to achieve safety, delivery, cost, and quality objectives.

    Skills and Experience:

    • Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes.
    • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.
    • Extensive experience in a machining field.
    • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
    • Previous exposure to a similar industry (specialist fasteners/exotic materials).
    • Proficient in working with different machine control systems such as Fanuc and Mitsubishi.
    • Self-motivated with team facilitation skills.
    • Prior experience with precision inspection equipment.
    • Demonstrated ability to maintain tight machining tolerances.
    • Ability to inspire and motivate colleagues.
    • Advocate for diverse thinking.
    • Effective at managing multiple priorities with a bias towards action.
    • Customer-centric approach.
    • Demonstrates integrity and respect consistently.
    • Makes decisions based on facts and follows a disciplined approach.

    Qualifications:

    • GCSE's (or equivalent).
    • Apprentice trained (preferred).
    • HNC in Engineering (preferred).

    • Programmer, setter, and operator - £18 p/h + 15% shift allowance (Hourly rate negotiable based on experience).
