    Job Title: Senior Design Engineer (Geotechnical/Piling) at Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering

    Our Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering business has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Design Engineer to join our team. This role is based either at our Basingstoke or Raynesway, Derby office. Balfour Beatty's Ground Engineering business is the UK's leading specialist geotechnical contractor, providing innovative piling and ground improvement solutions for various sectors, ensuring strong foundations for buildings of all sizes. From city skyscrapers to house foundation packages, we deliver quality results.

    As a senior member of the design team, you will be responsible for developing bids and tenders to secure business opportunities. Your role involves creating cutting-edge ground engineering solutions, maximizing opportunities, and providing added value to clients while meeting their requirements. We prioritize safety, efficiency, and quality in every project, meeting client specifications with precision.

    What You'll Be Doing

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Ensuring compliance with design codes and standards, while mentoring junior team members.
    • Collaborating with estimators to support the work-winning process and develop tailored solutions for clients.
    • Utilizing technical expertise to create winning solutions and maintain vital customer relationships.
    • Reviewing client requirements and preparing compliant designs.
    • Evaluating project risks and technical aspects.
    • Engaging with the operations team to incorporate essential methods and selections.
    • Performing risk assessments and enhancing market design solutions.
    • Finalizing contract designs for submission after awards.
    • Conducting site visits and audits to ensure compliance.

    Who We're Looking For

    Ideal candidates will have:

    • Civil engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
    • Extensive experience in piling or geotechnical industry.
    • Valid CSCS card.
    • Expertise in designing geotechnical foundations.
    • Strong technical and market knowledge of Ground Engineering.
    • Proficiency in Repute and Plaxis abilities.
    • Results-driven mindset, focusing on increasing sales and reducing costs.
