    Specialist Nurse/Practitioner Adult Safeguarding - Birmingham, United Kingdom - University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust

    Description

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, proactive registered nurse with experience in neuromuscular conditions, neurology, and neurosurgery to join the established neuromuscular specialist team at UHB on a full-time basis, as a Band 7 specialist nurse.

    Dependent on your experience and with the support of the existing band 7 neuromuscular CNS, you will eventually run and maintain nurse-led clinics independently and provide help to coordinate the treatment and care for various patient groups including but not limited to myasthenia gravis, chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) and muscular dystrophies.

    You will organise and manage your workload and commitments to facilitate clinics that serve the needs of the patient group, including telemedicine services, adapting, and prioritizing as necessary.

    A background in neurology and/or neurosurgery is preferred.

    Whilst neuromuscular experience is desirable, training, support and development will be provided to the appropriate candidate who can demonstrate the motivation, interest and drive to deliver a high level of specialist intervention and care to the patient group.

    To act as an expert practitioner working autonomously, managing a caseload of patients within a speciality whilst working as part of a multidisciplinary team (defined or virtual), delivering individualised and personalised direct patient care.

    *Provide a specialist nursing service and advice in a variety of clinical settings and disciplines for staff, patients, their families and carers, effectively liaising with multidisciplinary colleagues. Participate in nurse led and multidisciplinary clinics, ward rounds, patient reviews and multidisciplinary team meetings, where the post holder will co-ordinate treatment independently or in conjunction with a wider multidisciplinary team. These may be face to face, virtual or telephone, and incorporate the use of agreed protocols clinical and professional guidelines. This service may be provided within an acute secondary health care facility or in primary care or home care settings in accordance with local service level agreements.

    Registered Adult / Child Nurse on the NMC Register (Field dependent upon role )

    • Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC
    • Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of ongoing professional development/ competence
    • Working in a multi-disciplinary and cross agency work environment
    • Can demonstrate expert nursing knowledge with an ability to assess, plan , implement and evaluate specialist care delivered to patients and give advice and information to patients / relatives/ care staff
    • Awareness of current relevant NHS policy context relating to the speciality
    • Has understanding / experience of the principles of Safeguarding
