    Kier Professional Services (KPS) is in search of a **Principal Design Engineer** to join our expanding team in Glasgow, Scotland.

    Kier Professional Services (KPS) serves as the engineering consultancy branch of Kier Group, offering design solutions, technical guidance, and engineering assistance to all other Kier business sectors.

    We handle over **2,000 designs** annually in support of more than **400 projects**, positioning us as one of the UK's largest Temporary Works designers. With over 100 Temporary Works engineers, we possess extensive expertise in designing and verifying Temporary Works for projects of various scales and industries.

    Our aim is to ensure that Kier is technologically prepared to realize its vision and to elevate the Group's competitive stance and reputation.

    Contract: Full Time, Permanent

    Key Responsibilities

    As a Principal Design Engineer within KPS, your role involves close collaboration with project teams to aid in the provision of a diverse array of civil and structural services in both Temporary and Permanent Works across the Kier business. Additionally, you will support the delivery of more intricate services by offering secure and feasible solutions in both their temporary and permanent states.

    Your daily tasks will encompass:

    • Temporary Works design and verification, both above and below ground in various materials, linked with Permanent Works design when relevant.
    • Provision of alternative solutions and value engineering to bolster Kier's standing
    • Support during tender stages and bid triumphs, emphasizing buildability, efficiency, and ingenuity.
    • Technical evaluation and scrutiny of 3rd party designs, ensuring alignment with the project brief to meet client and Kier standards.
    • Offering alternative solutions and value engineering to enhance Kier's competitive edge
    • Supervising and guiding other junior KPS employees.

    Desired Qualifications

    • You are a Chartered Engineer or aspire to attain Chartered status.
    • You hold a keen interest in Temporary Works Design or come with relevant experience.
    • You possess a valid UK driving license.
