This is a one-year, full timeMSc course which is 50% in practice and 50% at the University of Surrey inorder to complete both the practice and theoretical elements of the course. Thecourse runs from September 2024 until September 2025. To complete the course,applicants must be able to meet the academic requirements set by the Universityof Surrey and must be available for the whole year.
Main duties of the job
Applicantsare required to take responsibility for their own learning and to inform their CommunityPractice Assessor/ Practice Educator and University tutor should there be any exceptionalcircumstances preventing the completion of any aspects of the course.
Alwaysmaintain confidentiality, follow organisational sickness and absence policy.
Undertakeduties allocated by Practice Assessor/Supervisor being flexible as needed and writingrecords within organisational guidelines.
Workcollaboratively with the skill mixed School Nursing team & wider multidisciplinaryteam ensuring equity of service provision, promoting good practice and thesharing of resources.
Participatein the delivery of the Healthy Child programme 5-19, including school healthsessions, health promotion and Chat Health.
Participateto identify/support children and families who have unmet health needs,providing support and targeted interventions and where necessary referring tospecialist services.
Take appropriateaction in cases of suspected or actual child abuse, working within Surreysafeguarding code of practice and procedures, attending child protectionmeetings such as Case Conference and Core groups with Practice Supervisor/Practice Assessor.
Participatein clinical audit and evaluation of service. Work in accordance with the needsof the service, may be required to undertake other duties as required withincurrent skill set.

The post holder isresponsible for engaging fully in all clinical practice learning and academiclearning to complete the BSc (Hons) Degree/Postgraduate Diploma in SpecialistCommunity Public Health (Specialist Practitioner award in School Nursing). Thiswill involve liaising with all relevant parties within the practice area and atthe assigned University to gain the desired 50% theory and 50% practicalelement of the course. To attain successful completion, the student will berequired to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the primary caresetting, carrying out clinical duties with patients/clients as agreed withtheir Practice Teacher.
