Level 1 Teaching Assistant

27.5 hours per week (8.45am-3.30pm with 1 hour and 15mins for lunch) – Term Time only

Expected start date: 16th October 2023

Job Type: Temporary (until 31st August 2024)

Salary: Level 1 (£20,812 FTE), (£ 13,861 Actual)

St Joseph's Catholic Primary School Academy Council is seeking to appoint a classroom Teaching Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a school which is a special place, well known for caring for its children. The successful candidate will inspire children with a love of learning, demonstrate a commitment to raising standards, and support all children and join our dedicated team of staff.

The ideal candidate will:

Be attentive to the unique needs of each pupil and be able to identify proper solutions when pupils encounter issues

Have a love for teaching and the ability to build a trusting relationship with pupils, teachers and parents

Maintain a supportive, safe and clean classroom environment.

Main duties will include:

Scaffolding resources and support individual children with specific needs

Working with small groups of pupils to enhance the learning process

Assisting teachers with various tasks including helping them to prepare lesson plans or by getting equipment or materials for specific lessons

Helping teachers with recordkeeping, such as taking attendance registers

Setting up necessary material for classes (e.g. projectors, chemistry sets)

Escorting and supervising pupils on field trips and other school activities

Follow school and class rules to teach pupils proper behaviour and report to teachers about possible behavioural issues

Assist with classroom instruction and provide support and guidance to pupils.
